UPCOMING STAFF DEPARTURE Sadly, this past week Mrs. Gayle Bergstrand tearfully resigned her position as our 4th grade teacher. Mrs. Bergstrand has loved her time at TCS and really does not want to depart, but she is following a calling she believes is from the Lord. She was recently offered the opportunity to return as principal of Christian Hills School, where she once served before coming on here at TCS. In her words, she said, “I really do not want to leave Trinity, but I have prayed and fasted over this and I have been given signs that this is what I am called to do. I have always taught my kids to follow the Lord’s calling and if I ignore this calling I would not be doing what I have always taught.” Mrs. Bergstrand said she will miss this wonderful place, the parents, teachers and administration. Just as God has led Mrs. Bergstrand to another place, we also know God has a plan for providing a wonderful teacher in her place. We will keep you posted in our search.
HAPPY MIDDLE OF THE SUMMER, TRINITY FAMILY!!! I hope and pray that you are all having a wonderful time enjoying this summer. We are well into
July now and I hope that many of you have had a chance to get to the ”to do” list, of spending
time with family that often gets away from us. I have noticed many of you have been enjoying the
sun, hitting the beaches and taking some awesome vacations! Well, there are a lot of things going
on behind the scenes at Trinity Christian School as well so we want to give you some updates.
Please take the time to carefully read through this summer newsletter, you don’t want to miss
out on anything! We plan to send another one out in early August as well.
My first request to you all is for you to take a moment and lift the school up in prayer. We need
to faithfully continue to lift this place of ministry to the Lord. There is so much to be thankful for
and there are also many needs as well. Please join with me in asking for God to guide and direct
this school into His will and plan. We can do amazing things as long as we continue to put our
faith and trust in our Lord and Savior. Here are some specific requests and blessings to keep in
prayer:
Praise in the blessings of great new staff and faculty
Pray for our new teachers and that they transition smoothly into their classrooms
Enrollment - that God will continue to bring in more families and students to fill these halls
That God would bless families struggling financially who seek to send their children here
Our maintenance crew as they work hard to get things in place for the school year
The logistics of starting a new school year from staff in-service to the first day for students!
Please drown this upcoming school year in prayer. It is not too early, God will hear our prayers.
Thank you for your love for our school. Looking forward to the new school year, but not ready to
say “back to school.” Enjoy every minute of what is left of summer!
In His Grip,
Mr. V

REQUIRED MEDICAL FORMS All students entering kindergarten or sixth grade, and transfer students must have a physical exam form completed and ready to turn in by JUMP-START DAY, AUGUST 17, 2018.
Immunizations: State law requires that all students entering school be immunized against polio, diptheria, tetanus, pertussis (Tdap), measles, mumps, rubella, Hepatitis B (for 6th grade), and varicella (chicken pox). Also, a meningococcal conjugate vaccination (MCV4) requirement recently went into effect for students entering sixth grade. Sixth graders must show proof of one dose of MCV4. Proof of immunity is verified by documented evidence by a health care provider of the student having received the vaccine or of having had the disease. State law provides that students who do not meet these requirements be excluded from school.
Religious Exemptions: For families who have a religious objection to examination or immunization, Illinois law has recently changed. According to Public Act 099-0249, families with such objections must submit a completed Certificate of Religious Exemption for each student. The certificate must also be signed by the child’s health care provider responsible for performing the child’s examination for entry into kindergarten and sixth grade. This signature affirms that the provider educated the parent or legal guardian about the benefits of immunization and the health risks to the student and to the community from the communicable diseases for which immunization is required in Illinois.
The religious objection provided need not be directed by the tenets of an established religious organization. However, general philosophical or moral reluctance to allow physical examinations, eye examinations, immunizations, vision and hearing screening or dental examinations will not provide a sufficient basis for an exception to statutory requirements.
Please be aware that students who have not been immunized will be excluded from school for a period of time, determined by the state, if they have been exposed to some of these diseases.
Key Points: All kindergarten, sixth grade and transfer students shall have their physical exam completed and turned in by Jump-Start Day. Please fill out the “History” section on the top of the second page prior to coming.
To be in compliance with state law, students who do not have proper immunizations or forms completed prior to the first day of school, will not be allowed to begin school until the form is completed.
