Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a
mustard seed, the tiniest of seeds. When
planted, the tiny mustard seed grows into a
tremendous tree with large branches. So, too,
in each of our lives, small things can have
profound effects. God can use one of our
more insignificant gestures to radically change
another person's life. It may be the kindness
of a smile, our willingness to accommodate
someone, listening to someone's story, help-
ing someone who is hurting, standing up for
someone who is right, or complimenting
someone on something they did. We all have
God-given gifts and talents. Our task is to use
them creatively, consistently, lovingly, and
generously. We trust that God will take care
of the rest.

25th Celebration
Did you know - Fr.
Russ Scepaniak, our
Pastor, will be
celebrating 25 years
of priesthood this
summer? Our parish
will have a celebration for him on
Sunday, July 8th after the
10am Mass. Please come join us to honor Fr. Russ in Kennedy Hall for
some of his favorites… Hamburgers,
potato chips, baked beans, root beer
and of course strawberry ice cream
for dessert!
Blessed Father’s Day to all our Dad’s My Father died in 1986 at a very young age, these days, of 59 years. Since, I have often mused about
the relationship I had with dad. One of the things my dad instilled in me was the attitude that if I
wanted anything in life I needed to work for it. So us boys always made sure we made money from
the various farmers around town in order to buy our bikes, baseball gloves, etc. I firmly believe de-veloping that attitude built some sort of good
character. Also, my dad wanted us boys to learn about cars. He was a shade tree mechanic. He would buy old jalopies and bring them home, fix them and sell them. I even think he rolled odome-
ters back! While working on those jalopies, he wanted us boys right there so he could teach us the value of keeping up what you have. My dad
certainly tried to live by the axiom: live by what you need, not what you want! Also, I believe my
mom had a huge hand in keeping old George in place. I recall my dad referring to my mother as “mom” many times. Only when he was upset with something did he refer to mom as “Gladys.” I guess a good dad needs a good mom by his
side. So a happy and blessed father’s day to all our dads this weekend.
2018 CMA I want to thank everyone who participated in the
2018 CMA (Catholic Ministries Appeal). St. Pius X has reached its goal! Thank you for your contribu-
tions to this annual diocesan fund drive that sup-ports the various Diocesan Office Ministries, the parishes, and our Catholic Schools. May God bless
you for your concern and generosity for our local diocesan church here in Southern Minnesota.
Our Gospel Today…. …tells us that a mustard seed of faith (the smallest of all seeds) can grow and therefore bear fruit. Through prayer, we learn how to cooperate
with God’s will. A good lesson for us this week: Name times you are close to God and what you
need to change to grow closer to God. God bless and have a good week.
