Dear TRSPS Families, What a busy start to the year we have had. There have been many highlights over the term including our annual swimming carnival, TRSPS Twilight Picnic, TRSPS radio show, a sustainability excursion for our Devilbend Ambassadors, Cross Country trials, Buddy Day lunch, Lightening Premiership, Chirpy Chicks incursion, Parent Teacher meetings, House Athletics day, and the list goes on. Believe it or not in between all of this our teachers have found time to concentrate hard on the curriculum as well. Teachers have continued to focus on writing, problem solving strategies and spelling and students have produced some very good work. Thank you to teachers, students and parents for participating in the Parent Teacher Interviews. These interviews are a great opportunity to share information and to set academic and personal learning goals. Remember, if you need to speak to your child’s teacher don’t hesitate to contact the office to make an appointment. Our Foundation students have had a great start to the year. Next term promises to be just as busy with Year 3 and 5 students doing their NAPLAN tests. Student Development: We value student voice as a means of improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school. The Attitudes to School Survey is an annual student survey offered by Department of Education and Training (DET) to assist schools in gaining an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Our school will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child's schooling experience. Students from Years 4 to 6 will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online at school using a secure online survey tool. Your child will be provided with a unique login to complete the survey. All responses to the survey are kept anonymous and the confidentiality of your child’s responses is protected at all times. This year the Attitudes to School survey will be conducted at our school over the period Monday, 23rd April to Friday, 1st June. The survey results will be reported back to the school before the end of term 2. The 2018 survey results will be communicated to parents through annual reporting. More information is available at: http://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/management/improvement/Pages/performsurveyat.aspx Continued/ Today we had our school wide Bonnet parade. Well done to all students who participated in the parade. The bonnets were fantastic. It was lovely to see such an array of colour and creativity. Please see the photos included in the addition and on our Facebook page. Thank you to the 15 plus brave parents that volunteered to help supervise students at our Zoo excursion. All names were put into a hat and the lucky parents are: Jay Allen, Kylie Gallon, Jessica Richardson, Sarah McCabe and Karli Richmond. Thank you once again for everyone who put their hand up to help. Congratulations to all those that were the lucky winners in our Easter raffle and colouring in competition. Congratulations to Dallas Jackson for winning the colouring in competition! Remember that our newsletter is going online as of next term. It can be accessed via our school’s website or Facebook page. On behalf of all staff I would like to wish everyone a fantastic and safe Easter, and term one holiday break.

DEVILBEND AMBASSADOR REPORTDEVILBEND AMBASSADOR REPORTDEVILBEND AMBASSADOR REPORTDEVILBEND AMBASSADOR REPORT

On Wednesday the 21st of March, Lachlan, Hannah, Janaya and Codi all went to Seawinds Nursery in Arthur's Seat to learn how to grow plants properly. They gave us a tour and explained how their technology works and showed us some ways to grow plants, like putting sticks in the ground and get them to grow roots.

At Seawinds there where many statues which were beautiful and they were all different in ways They had many different plants there and many ways to grow them. After they are fully grow they will be given to Park Victoria to give to parks like Devilbend Natural Features Reserve and many others in the area which are then planted in the parks. After all that we all went back to Devilbend Natural Features Reserve to get some seed. We found 3 different types of Eucalyptus gum nuts , some Prickly ti-tree seedpods, some Black wood seedpods and seeds and some Native grass seeds. We will try to grow some of these in the green house at school!
