Classifying

• 1. On your paper define the word “Classify.” Use pg. 8 in your textbook to help you.

• 2. Name at least two different ways you could classify the group of candles your group has.

Initial Observations• 3. Choose one candle from the group

and make as many initial observations as you can.

• 4. We are going to burn the candle now, but first, list what safety symbol we need to be aware.

Burning the Candle

• 5. While the candle is burning take as many observations as you can safely.

• 6. After the candle is burned out, take any additional observations you can.

Data

• 7. Define the terms Quantitative Observation and Qualitative Observation.

• 8. Look back at all of your observations, circle any that would be Quantitative Data. Underline any that are Qualitative Data.
