With a pioneering spirit and a belief in the future the foundation stone for today’s TRISA was laid in 1887. At the end of the 19th century, the company already had a workforce of around 30 and specialised in the manu- facture of hairbrushes and brushes for household use. The first toothbrush, made in 1903, was hand-drawn. Today, more than one million quality toothbrushes are produced every day with state-of-the-art technology. Four generations Today, the TRISA company, jointly owned by employees and family, is being managed by the fourth generation of the Pfenniger family. Each generation has built up its know-how from the previous generation, accompanied by business sense and creative power. They all were and still are patrons but also role models for the mo- tivated TRISA employees. Many families of employees, who have also been loyal to TRISA for several genera- tions, have contributed considerably to the success of the company. Shaped by sustainability The sustainable corporate development of TRISA is based on economical, social and environmental con- siderations. TRISA is always looking for new ways to live up to its responsibility towards the employees and cus- tomers, but also towards the environment and society. TRISA is not striving for short-term profit maximisation but for long-term optimisation. Sustainability also refers to the products whose quality is given top priority. The harmony between mankind, work and the environment is deeply rooted in the consciousness of the TRISA em- ployees. Even at the beginning of the 1960s, before the subject of the environment was on everybody’s lips, TRISA had taken on a pioneering role. The TRISA success factors The success of TRISA is based on a strong corporate cul- ture, a systematic innovation management and a bold investment policy. All TRISA employees are shareholders and participate in the joint success of their company. Holding 30 per cent of the shares, the employees ac- count for half the members of the Board of Directors. With a strong and systematic innovation management TRISA follows a leadership strategy in the field of oral hygiene. As a result TRISA has an above-average share of new products in its turnover. With courage and the typical company culture the TRISA group is constantly developing and continuing to create jobs. Within 40 years the turnover has risen by more than 20-fold. From 2000 to 2011 more than 400 jobs came into being in the TRISA group whilst over CHF 250 million were in- vested in buildings, infrastructure, new technologies and products in the home base Triengen. Enthusiastic employees create enthusiastic customers Today, TRISA is a worldwide leading producer of oral and dental care products. Each day, more than one million toothbrushes, manufactured to strict quality criteria, leave our modern factories. Over 95 per cent of the toothbrushes are exported to more than 80 coun- tries. A lot has changed in products and production methods in 125 years. What remained is the enthusi- asm and joy at work. TRISA employees have remained proud brush makers over all those years. In its almost 50 years of existence, the TRISA corporate philosophy, the “TRISA Spirit” shows no signs of fatigue. In the op- posite – it is more up-to-date than ever. Those who have been successful in the market for 125 years have to be fair to all partners, need sound principles and values to be able to persist. Confidence was at the beginning – confidence and optimism will shape TRISA’s future. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your loyalty and the trust you have placed in TRISA.
