    The President’s Thoughts,

My apologies to all for not completing a “Prezzie Report” in the last edition of TRend. I had completed 2 articles for the magazine and had also completed my report, but somehow that copy didn’t get sent !!!!

the demise of our phone system. If you haven’t yet been “updated” with slow and incompetent connectiveness, be warned!

We have been saddened with another passing of one of our hard-working members. Derek McConnell passed on Monday 18th September. Derek joined our club many years back. I met him on his first Gold Coast run when he owned had a TR 4. This was one of a few 4’s he owned, one of which he co-owned was 3CV one of the works cars. He later purchased a Daimler Dart and then a white Stag. Derek was always happy to be involved in the club events including the MacLean’s Bridge Concour d’ Elegance as a main judge. Derek had been fighting prostate cancer for many years but more recently it became worse and he succumbed to this horrible disease. Several members of the club attended his funeral at Merrimac to honour him.

Frank Jacobson has also been fighting his own battle against serious illness. He spent weeks in hospital following surgeries and rehabilitation. As I write this Frank is now home still recuperating. Ann has been nursing Frank through this ordeal and we all extend our best wishes to them. Looking forward to seeing you fit and healthy Frank!

There have been many events in the past few months. The last I attended was the All British Day at Tennyson. The cost had increased and the effect was noticed by the lower numbers overall in attendance. However, the TSOAQ had the biggest numbers of all the past events. We had a large selection of models and we also received an excellent number of enquiry to join the club. It may have started a little cloudy but the sun popped out and the day became very, very enjoyable. I was a happy camper as I only just got the TR running and that was the first run with the new motor. I have included a few photos that I took.

Earlier in August we celebrated the birthday of the TR 3A which just happened to coincide with the Peak Crossing Jaguar organized Car Show. Both events were well supported by club members as the weather was excellent that weekend.

Remember the Victorian Branch is running the National meeting for 2017. This is an outstanding event!! It is the main event where our Australian membership can gather together to participate in a number of group events organized over 7 days where you get to enjoy your Triumph in another State!!! Please check the Victorian web site to get further information and also enroll for this quickly, time is running out fast !!!! 2018 will be the Queensland organized event. Our committee is very well placed in their planning already. We have a video being edited by Jon Williams as our presentation advising the Victorian Nationals delegates of what we are offering for next year.

This untimely error has been due to my dilemma with a series of computer misadventures plus a new connection via NBN technology which also meant

The last “Golden Era Auto Racing” Day was at QR just past Amberley and the next is October 12th at Lakeside at Kurwongbah. If you have these days off they are great opportunities to see rare cars enjoying lap times – Spectators are free. !! Lunch time offers some people a chance to have “Spectator Drives”. Ask Daryl’s grandson – he had a hoot for his birthday.

It won’t be long before we start the planning for the club Christmas Party which I think is Saturday 2 December. I will have to confirm that but keep your social calendar open!!

Happy motoring and enjoy your days in your TRiumph!!
