Junior Years – Year 5G

Year 5G reflectionsJorga Beutel i had trouble with Grammar at the start of the year, and i still do. But i have improved!

Arna Gerussi i am always trying to have fun with everything and friends. So far, doing all of that has turned out great.

Chelsea Pender We are always trying to get better, although we are all fantastic at something. i believe that if we have a great teacher we can do much better. We have a great teacher, mr carter, so we don’t have to do better, we just have to try harder.

Ashtyn Reedy mr carter has taught us a lot. one of the things he has taught me is how to remember my times tables. he makes up songs that help us learn our nouns and pronouns.

Lemara Foster All this year i have worked really hard to learn my times tables and to achieve level 1 in addition.

Kaitlin Hawkins i was having trouble with maths and i have practised it lots of times, so now i am getting better. i like doing it all the time so i can get better at it.

Caitlin Byrne i was having trouble with Spelling but i’m learning. now i am good at it!

Olivia Stonestreet i keep trying to do the 7, 8 and 6 times-tables and every time i do a test i keep trying.

Keira Groves in maths we learned the Pythagorean Theorem so we could get the measurement from one side of the classroom to the other. it was hard, but we got there. it was for our Science unit on Space.

Caitlin McManus i have learnt many new things at this school. A lot of things i had never even heard of.

Monica Huddleston i learnt how to do the Pythagorean Theorem. i learnt how to do my times tables and i am happy that i learnt both of these things.

Kiara Blinco i was having trouble with my maths but i did all i could to keep at it and i got it all done with no help.

Sommer-Jade Eskutics At the start of the year i was having trouble multiplying two and three-digit numbers. But i kept trying and now i am really good at it.

Trisha Chand i have learnt lots of things this year but handwriting is something i always wanted to achieve. For handwriting this year, i have learnt how to hold my pencil [correctly] and how to write my letters. i’m very happy that i have achieved handwriting.

Trisanna Adrian When i only came second at the interhouse cross country i was ashamed. nevertheless i still went to West Zone and placed first. i was thoroughly encouraged. if it wasn’t for the encouragement from my school, friends and family i would never have got there.

Piripo Ruhe-Bennett i am always working towards getting a certificate for maths, Spelling and homework. Whenever i am just about to give up i am always encouraged to do that which i cannot.

Alex Rhodes We always have trouble with something but all we need to do is try. So work harder and harder and you will always get better at anything. only if you try your best.

Samara Robins i was inspired when i joined the optiminDS team. it made me really confident than i ever believed i could be.

Mr Edward (Ted) Carter in 2009 students of 5G have memorised the words of Pablo Picasso;

“i am always doing that which i cannot do in order that i may learn how to do it.”

in 5G we recognise that we are not meant to know everything, but we should never give up learning.

As a new face at Glennie Junior, i have experienced ‘Picasso moments’ when i was doing that which i could not do. my journey, however, has been rewarded with a growing appreciation for the teaching profession and a confidence that i may learn how to do it.

V I S I O NTo develop in each Glennie girl the intellectual, physical and spiritual potential to be ‘all she can be.’

M I S S I O N S TAT E M E N TAs a community where tomorrow’s women learn, our Mission is to provide girls with dynamic opportunities in education, training and personal growth which develop their individual potential and prepare them for life. We shall incorporate traditional values within a caring, Christian environment, together with the best contemporary teaching methods and learning experiences.

H I S T O R YEstablished in 1908, The Glennie School realises the vision of Benjamin Glennie, a devout Anglican Priest who dedicated his life to serving and caring for others. It is Archdeacon Glennie’s own qualities that inspire and resonate within the Glennie community: humility, service, Christian faith, quiet strength, integrity and a lifelong love of learning.

S C H O O L M O T T ODieu de Veult – God Wills ItGod’s will encompasses everything that is good or positive. We believe that it is God’s will that we fulfi l our positive potential; that we strive to become “all we can be.”
