EFCC Defined

The Evangelical Free Church of Canada

(EFCC) is an association of over 150

churches

joined together by common

purposes, principles and practices.

Page 15: Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family

Evangelical refers to our commitment to the authority of Scripture as being

inerrant in the original autographs and the only safe and sufficient guide to faith and practice. It also speaks to our belief that the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ form the only basis upon

which, by God’s grace, we can be reconciled to our Heavenly Father.

“Believers affirming these principles began to develop informal and unofficial

gatherings within the larger State Church. But as these new groups began to

implement some of the principles, church authorities pressured them to abandon

their ways or withdraw from the established Church.

Historical Background

Page 34: Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family

They chose to withdraw and began establishing new ‘Free Churches’ on their own. Hence the ‘Free Church’ was born.

EFCC Character and Calling

Our Character:...Every local church,

denomination and ministry organization is a part

of the Kingdom [of God] and carries some responsibility in the work of

the Kingdom. As a part of the Body of Christ, EFCC desires to

understand and fulfill its particular calling in the work

of the Kingdom.Welcome to the Family (p. 10)

EFCC Character and Calling

Our Character:The EFCC will seek to live out our

calling to be a community in Christ, reflecting the fullness of

His vision for the Kingdom of God “on earth as it is in heaven.” We will do this by putting aside the

prevailing values of our time and replacing them with the

radical demands of the gospel of God’s grace.

THE LAW OF THE PENDULUM

Galileo Galilei (1564-1642)A pendulum can never return to a point higher

than the point from which it was released – because of friction and gravity...

“...the universe dwarfs us both in age and extent, and this teaches us of the majesty

of God...Even while humans are the highest member

of God’s creation, we must not lose sight of the fact that

God is in the center of creation,

not us.”D. Snoke

EFCC Statement of Faith

Page 52: Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family

...there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven,

preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone

preaches any other gospel to you than what you

have received, let him be accursed.Galatians 1:7-9

EFCC Statement of Faith

Page 53: Happiness is having a large, loving, caring, close-knit family

EFCC is committed to God’s evangel – the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Who died and rose again to give us eternal life.

To God’s glory, the Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. Our essential theological

convictions are vitally connected to this Gospel.

What Next?

6 …without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek

Him.

Hebrews 11:6

What Next?

3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, 4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the
