For Dr. Tsun Yee Law and his wife, Dr. Chau Nguyen, having better than average eyesight is not only important, but life saving.

Both physicians who work in Fort Lauderdale have had issues through the years with their vision. Knowing how important it is to what they do, when things were not “perfect” - it was time to look into correcting something that was indeed paramount.

Dr. Law’s story is truly something that everyone should listen to. Here is someone who grew up poor - where getting glasses or corrective lenses - put a strain financially on the family.

In school, he can recall having to always be in the front row. He did what he could to see, but without corrective lenses, it was tough. Throughout his life he was nearsighted and things never got better. In fact - it was time to do something about it.

That belief brought he and his wife to Hollywood - to address the vision problems that both had been suffering with - Dr. Law, a bit worse.

What Dr. Law found on the initial visit to Dr. Braverman was an amazing, organized staff that has been there and done that - with tremendous success. Being a candidate for PRK, Dr. Law had a much higher prescription. This procedure has a different way of preparing the eye for the main laser to do the correction. It requires a bit longer for healing, but the end result is the same as Lasik.

“Where do I start,” Dr. Law said. “From the initial visit - for both of us - it was a true experience. Every question was answered, any apprehension was reassured and Dr. Braverman, Rosemary

and the entire staff was amazing.”Because he was explained by Dr.

Braverman what to expect from start to finish, Dr. Law was completely at ease, practicing exactly what he tells his patients.

“I knew my recovery time would be longer than the regular Lasik,” he said. “I also was told that there would be some mild pain - which never occurred. I was just totally impressed from the first time Chau and I visited with Dr. Braverman.”

While both went to Dr. Braverman for Lasik, it was actually Dr. Nguyen (Chau) that had a relatively mild prescription and was a Lasik candidate.

Like her husband, she really needs her vision as an Urgent Care physician, and the experience at the Braverman Eye Center is something that she will forever be thankful for.

“Like I said, the total experience for both of us has been amazing,” Dr. Law pointed out. “We are both doing great and living life.”

What To Expect With Z-lasik Surgery

All Laser Z-Lasik surgery is performed on a patient’s cornea, which provides most of the focusing power when light enters the eye. Topical anesthetic drops are applied to the eye. The surgeon first uses a special Ziemer LDV femtosecond laser to create a thin layer of corneal tissue that can be folded back (a corneal flap). Then, another type of laser (an Allegretto Eye-Q excimer laser) is used to reshape the underlying cornea, painlessly. After the excimer laser treatment, the corneal flap is repositioned and bonds back into place naturally. The corneal reshaping improves the focusing power of the cornea. Although no one can promise patients “perfect” vision, most Laser Vision

Correction patients with mild to moderate prescriptions with or without astigmatism, do achieve 20/20 or better vision.
