“D&D is perhaps best known for its restaurants in landmark locations

in central London. So it has to be something special to tempt us

to venture outside the capital, and to be part of a shopping centre

development. And special is what we think Victoria Gate will be.

Hammerson has a great vision for its new shopping centre and that’s

why we have agreed to open a restaurant at Victoria Gate.”

“Silverburn was our first choice when we were looking at

sites in Scotland and we are delighted to be in the company

of other strong retail brands. The new leisure extension was

also a key factor in our decision making and we are excited to

Costa’s Carbon Neutral Eco-Pod Wrekin Retail Park, Telford

Hammerson worked collaboratively with Costa Coffee to design Costa’s 1,600 sq ft Carbon Neutral Eco-Pod which opened in April 2015 in Wrekin Park, Telford. The new concept coffee shop is the first of its kind in the UK and has achieved the highest provisional Energy Performance Certificate rating of A+.

Jim Slater, Managing Director of Costa UK and Ireland, said: “Through a successful partnership with Hammerson, we have developed an outstanding new type of test bed building design which really does have the potential to make a massive difference if rolled out more widely.”

At Hammerson, sustainability underpins everything that we do. Our vision is to create retail destinations that deliver positive impacts economically, socially and environmentally. Positive Places is our strategy for making that happen. In 2015, a set of commitments were developed, each with their own key targets:

To Challenge and Innovate Challenging the status quo and trialling new approaches and solutions to support the transition to a more sustainable business model.

To Serve and InvestDelivering social value to the communities we serve, measured in jobs, skills, civic pride and investment.

To Protect and EnhanceProtecting and enhancing our natural environment by minimising resource consumption and delivering restorative projects.

To Partner and CollaborateTaking a stakeholder led approach to create collaborative projects and evolve from client to partner.

To Upskill and InspireInvesting in our people, as well as recognising and rewarding those that deliver change with sustainability related objectives.

RegenerationSignificant additional development to include 500 residential units and potential other uses

Earliest start2017

Hammerson is working with Westfield in a 50:50 joint venture partnership to transform South London’s retail and leisure offer.

The proposed scheme will bring an outstanding retail, leisure and residential regeneration to the centre of Croydon and its catchment area of 1.1 million people, helping to fulfil Croydon’s potential as a strategic growth area. In March 2015 the Croydon Partnership acquired 50% additional stake in Whitgift to assume operational control. The CPO was confirmed in September 2015, following the Secretary of State’s decision.
