Developments in the professional field of Allied Health Care

professionals, consisting of dietitians, physiotherapists and

exercise therapists, speech and language therapists,

radiographers, and oral hygienists (NPi, 2012).

Due to demographic developments, like ageing of the population,

life style and social changes, and an increase in diagnostic-,

intervention- and care opportunities, the AHCP has to change his

perspective on care deliverance for instance by conveying high

care quality in complex health care situations, and providing care

more efficiently and effectively (RvZ, 2010; RvZ, 2011).

FG 1: ‘... I find myself quite immediately thinking of someone who is open to

feedback and who can translate that feedback into actions immediately‘

FG1: ‘… probably he is more of an initiator, someone who can help people

get started… who takes the initiative’

FG 3: ‘because within our profession, you must ensure that the patient is

prepared for all those things in short time frame, so you must be

excellent in your communication. You have to help patients who are

sometimes afraid to undergo things, so you have to be empathetic ...

I think that if you talk about excellence, that you have to excell in all

these areas’

FG2: ‘you need to follow your appointments, you must be attentive, alert, no

9 to 5 mentality ... So it is a lot more about attitude and basic human

posture

An AHCP is a person who can act accurately in different, complex

and new situations by using a set of particular competencies

brought together.

Underpinning: Evidence based Practise is already a competency in

the curricula of the programmes of AGZ;

Result- and goal oriented are missing: why?

Master oriented: The difference between experts and excellent

professionals?
