He was very poor and had for brothers and sisters. Jackie’s mother took his family to California when he was a baby. In Jackie’s family there was a lot of love but not money. When Jackie was growing up, he discovered that blacks and whites couldn’t play or be with each other. He thought it wasn’t fair. Jackie was angry about being treated unfairly.

In 1947 Jackie joined the Brooklyn Dodgers.
