Photo DesignDescription: Taking my own photographs, the goal was to design and edit a high quality image and create a poster with a specific color scheme.Process: I began by walking around and taking photos of different things on campus and around Rexburg. I wasnt happy with any pictures I took until Saturday Morning. I played around with a few images on Photoshop until I was happy with a color scheme and layout. I chose this image because the colors popped and matched the color scheme very well.Message: My message to my audience is to find beauty everywhere even if its just a random red barn in Rexburg, Idaho. I chose the words find joy in the ordinary because I thought it matched the feeling of the picture. This is a simple barn but it has beauty to it.Audience: Anyone who enjoys colors and inspiration.Top Thing Learned: Taking pictures is a dif-ficult process, and it is all about finding good lighting.Color scheme and color names: Split Complimentary- Red, Lime & Teal.Title Font Name & Category: Helvetica Light Sans serif & Helvetica Nue Ultra Thin ItalicCopy Font Name & Category: Helvetica Regular

MontageDescription: An inspirational poster made in Photoshop using the masking tool to blend together two or more images.Process:I cropped the image of the typewriter to 8.5 X 11in. I added a mask layer to the typewriter image then added in the tulips image behind the typewriter and added a mask layer to that as well.Using a black paint brush tool at 100% opacity I began to uncover the tulip image behind the typewriter. Once it was uncovered around the outline of the typerwriter I switched to the mask of the typewriter and began to bring out the details in the typewriter using a white paint brush tool at 50% opacity which gave the tulips a more blurred effect.I two contrasting fonts to make my title let your thoughts bloom into words.Programs Used: Adobe PhotoshopMessage: My main message is to write, especially when it comes to journaling. We have so many thoughts and feelings that are bottled up and never able to be released. Having a personal journal is a great way to write your own story and discover truth and beauty in your thoughts. The flowers coming out of a typewriter represents our thoughts blooming into words.Audience: Anyone thinking about writing. Or just anyone because everyone should write.Top Thing Learned: Combining two images can be a great way to create a unique and powerful poster. Event AdDescription: Using only Microsoft Word and a scanner I created a full bleed event ad.Process: I searched through books and magazines and various things I had around the house until I felt satisfied with this image. I decided to use the image for the entire background of the ad to draw attention to it. I also liked the pop of purple and green in this image. I chose two contrasting fonts: a script for my title and a sans serif for my body copy. Microsoft Word had a surprising amount of features I was able to use to create the ad.Message: I wanted to present the message of a fun and summery event for a good cause. The proceeds of this outdoor festival would go to the Childrens Therapy Facility. I chose lavender because many peo-ple use lavender as a form of therapy so I thought the benefit and the main part of the event fit together quite nicely.Audience: My main audience would be those around the community, especially those who enjoy lavender and outdoor activities during the summer. Another audience would be those who wish to help raise funds for the Childrens Therapy Facility.Color scheme and color names: Split Complemen-tary- Purple, Yellow, and Green.Top Thing Learned: I learned how to use Microsoft Word in a way that allows me to create quality designs.Title Font Name & Category: Script- Edwardian Script ITCCopy Font Name & Category: Sans Serif- Helvetica Neue LightScans: I used an image out of my cookbook titled Pioneer Woman, it was 8.5 by 14 inches. The scanner was located in the BYU-I library on the first floor.

FlierDescription:Gray scale flier promoting a Graduation Leadership Conference sponsored by Vouant Communications.Process: I began my design by sketching and brainstorming ideas for the flier. I used Adobe InDesign to create the flier. I used an open title that grabs attention and leads the viewer to look throughout the rest of the page. I used gray & black text to create contrast and keep the design simple and easy to follow. My goal was to keep the theme of the flier professional and inspiring to recent graduates.Message: Reaching out to those that have recently graduated that want to gain a competitive edge in the business world. The message is to encourage these graduates to come to the conference and develop leadership skills and gain experience that looks great to potential employers.Audience: Recent college graduates.Top Thing Learned: I learned that alignment is very important in design.Title Font Name & Category: Helvetica Sans SerifCopy Font Name & Category: Constantia Oldstyle

StationeryDescription: A letterhead stationery with a matching business card (front and back).Process: I created a new logo using Adobe Illustrator. I created a shape using the gradient mesh tool, lasso tool, wrinkle tool, blending and transparency tool. Then I created a diamond shape using the pen tool and line tool and added that to my title. I went into Adobe In Design and created a new two page document. There I brought in my logo and a social media picture to create my stationery and business card. For the business card I used the rectangle tool to create a layout. Then I pasted my logo for one side of the card. The other side I used for my contact information and added the same diamond I used in my logo. When working on the stationery I played around with different layouts and different shapes until I felt it looked professional and classy.
