BATTERY INSTALLATION

Ensure that the "ON-OFF" switch is in"OFF" position. Slide the battery compart-ment lid in the direction of the arrow untilthe lid becomes detached (fig. 1). Insertfour penlight (AA size) batteries taking carethat the positive and negative terminals arecorrectly aligned as indicated in the com-partment (fig. 1)

AI kal ine batteries are recommended becauseof their longer life and endurance to awider temperature range. Moreover, theirstrength is far superior to that of con-ventional zinc-carbon batteries and thispowerful flashunit understandably requirescons iderabl e.enerqv.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Push "power on" button. Green indica-tor lamp will light up indicating "poweron". When fully charged, ready lamp incenter of unit will light indicating theunit is ready for operation.

2. After operation, unit will automaticallyrecycle and when fully charged, orangeready lamp will again light - indicatingunit is now ready for further operation.

3. Auto off feature: If unit is notmanually turned off within 60 secondsof last operation or power on, the greenlight will go out indicating that the unithas turned off automatically. However,ready light will usually stay on forperiod of not less than 20 minutes.

The built-in photosensitive cell measures thelight emanating from the subject and thecomputor automatically determ ines thecorrect quantity of I ight required. There aretwo settings for computor use - (a) forrelatively close range where green framedcircular window is adjacent the white dot(Fig. 4) and (b) for greater distance wherethe red framed photocell is visible adjacentthe white mark (Fig. 5).

With the diaphragm disc set at theappropriate film speed e.g. 100 ASA in Fig.5, one can choose either F8 setting asindicated by the green figure or F4 asindicated by the red figure.

SLAVE OPERATIONWhen selector switch is in "ON" positionand turned on by pressing the "ON" buttonon the back the TZ855 will flash automati-cally when the light from your regular flashtrips the sensor. Unit can be activated fromup to 40 feet or more depending on the out-put of your regular flash. This allows theTZ855 to be used for fill-in light, backlighting, extra light for group photos, sidelighting for portraits, ETC. DETACHED OPERATION

It is possible to use the flashunit detachedfrom the camera for flashlight reflectionfrom vertical objects such as a wall. Theflashunit should be attached to the cameraby connecting the P.C. cord to the camera'X' socket. The same apertures as thosespecified for vertical bounce apply.

If possible for wall reflection the flashunit should be attached to the camera andthe combination held so that the camerabase is vertical to the ground.
