Aquino, the month of June is
declared as Philippine
Environment Month. Part, of
the Communication
Education and Public
Awareness (CEPA) strategy,
PENRO Sultan Kudarat had
hanged tarpaulin at the main
entrance of the PENRO
Office located at Old Capitol
Compound, Isulan, Sultan
Kudarat for public
stakeholders information and
participation regarding the
month long celebration of the
Philippine Environment
featuring the theme:”Beat
Plastic Pollution: If You
Can’t Reuse it, Refuse It.”
CLEAN-UP DRIVE
June 05, 2018 – Presidential
Proclamation 1149, Declaring June
5 as World Environment Day
established by the United National
General Assembly in 1972 to raise
Environmental awareness and to
encourage action to protect the
environment. During the
Environment Month celebration
various important events had been
done, one was the clean-up drive
held at the new site of Provincial
Environment and Natural
Resources (PENRO) Sultan
Kudarat Office perimeter situated
at Kalawag II, Isulan, Sultan
Kudarat which was participated
by the PENRO personnel to ensure
the cleanliness of the surroundings
of the new office.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION OF SULTAN KUDARAT
June 12, 2017 – The
Provincial
Government of Sultan
Kudarat in
cooperation with the
Free and Accepted
Masons of the
Philippines - Daguma
Mountain Range
Lodge No. 244
conducted a
nationwide
simultaneous flag
raising ceremony
accompanied by flora
offering and wreath
laying at the capitol
ground on June 12, 2018
at 7:00 A.M. to
commemorate the 120th
anniversary of the
proclamation of
Independence Day of our
country. With the theme
for this year’s
Independence Day
Celebration is:
“Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban,
Alay sa Masaganang
Kinabukasan”.
In commemoration in this
momentous celebration we
participated and brought
folwer to mark the
anniversary of Philippine
Independence to be a source
of great pride and unity of
our people.
JOINT FAMILY DAY OF PENRO AND CENRO
June 19, 2018 – To develop a
strong relationship and
camaraderie among
the officials and
employees of
PENRO Sultan
Kudarat, DENR
Family Day (June
10) and was
celebrated late
commence June 19, 2018
held at Hot and Cold
Spring Resort at
Margues,
Esperanza, Sultan
Kudarat. The
celebration was
spearheaded by
CENRO-Tacurong
City headed by CENR
Officer Abunawas B.
Abduladsis, Al-Haj and
actively supported by
his staff/personnel.
With the participation
of OIC PENR Officer
Rosalinda B. Cortez, Ph.D. and some PENR
personnel, the IPs within the community, and
representatives from LGU Esperanza headed
by their MENRO made the event successful.
The celebration was highlighted by
thefollowing activities: a tree planting activity conducted around the spring resort; The
presentations of the current programs and projects of the Department; lectures on our
role/responsibility towars the protection, conservation, maangement, development and proper
use of the environment and natural resources.
ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
June 25, 2018 – Arbor Day is celebrated on different days of the year in different parts of the
world and is literally dedicated to tress. Particularly, the planting, care and coservation of
them. Trees not only bring an aesthetic beauty to our world but are important to our very
survival. They not only provide shelter for many species of birds, animals and insects but
they are also the lungs of our planet. Revived through Republic Act 10176 or the Arbor Day
Act of 2012, a massive tree-growing activity held within the vicinity of the office at Old
capitol which underscores the celebration of the Arbor Day of PENRO Sultan Kudarat.
ZUMBA COMPETITION
June 26, 2018 –
Dancing is a kind of
art which it involves
movements of the
body along with the
rhythm of the music.
Dancing is a great
cardio workout which
reduces stress and
tension and also it
used to be exciting
and fun. Dancing
can also improve
cardiovascular
health, increase
stamina, strengthen
bones and muscles
and stave off
illnesses. Today’s
Environment Month
celebration, Zumba
competition is one of
its activity which aims
not only to entertain
each and everyone but
most of all to be able
to show the skills and
talents of each
competing teams in
terms of dancing. The
event was participated
by PENRO Sultan
Kudarat, PENRO
South Cotabato, PENRO Sarangani, PENRO North Cotabato, ORD & SMD, LPDD-
DD and CDD & MGB-EMB. The winner of this event was from ORD and SMD
team. At the end of the day the event was indeed a success.
SPORTS FEST
June 27-29, 2018 – Environment Month
celebration will not be completed without the
region-wide Sports Fest usually held at the
Regional Office premises. The said event was
participated by different teams from the DENR
Regional and field offices such as: PENRO
Sarangani, PENRO South Cotabato, PENRO
Sultan Kudarat and PENRO North Cotabato,
ORD and SMD, LPDD-DD and CDD, and
from attached Bureaus the MGB and EMB.
The activity started with the parade of colors
and acknowledgement of participating teams.
After the preliminaries, the program was
formally opened with a Welcome Address
from PENR officer Renato C. Domingo and
from ARD Datu Tungko M. Saikol. The
Lighting of torch was graced by Regional
Director Nilo B. Tamoria, CESE and followed
by his Inspirational Message. It was then
followed by the banner raising of all
participating teams and luckily we were in the
3rd place. After the Oath of Sportsmanship
spearheaded by Orly Torres and ceremonial
opening of all officials including PENROs and
CENROs, was the announcement of schedules
of games for the sports fest. PENRO Sultan
Kudarat was declared champion in Chess
event played by Forest Ranger Abdulmanan
Montani from CENRO-Tacurong City, it was
the pride of PENRO Sultan Kudarat to fight
for championship in volleyball women
although haven’t defended the crown as
champion for 2 consecutive years of CY 2016-
2017 but it was a great achievement to did their
very best to win. True sportsmanship knowing
that it is a game, that we are only as good as our
opponents, and whether you win or lose, to
always give 100 percent! Overall the sports fest
was categorically a success.
2ND ARBOR DAY
June 29, 2018 – Arbor Day in the Philippines has been institutionalized to be observed every
June 25 throughout the nation by planting trees and ornamental plants and other forms of
relevant activities. The necessity to promote a healthier ecosystem for the people through the
rehabilitation and re-greening of the environment has stressed out in Proclamation No. 643.
which was amended by Proclamation No. 396, series of 2003. Proclamation No. 396 enjoined
the “active participation of all
government
agencies,
including
government-
owned and
controlled
corporations, private
sector, schools, civil
society groups and
the citizenry in tree
planting activity. In
compliance hereof,
the Sultan Kudarat
Provincial Government
conducted the 2nd Arbor
Day celebration on the
29th of June 2018 at 8:00
A.M. with a short
program. The activity
was headed by Hon.
Atty. Cesar Fornan –
Sangguniang
Panlalawigan member
and chairman on
Environment and
Protection of
Natural Resources,
He explained the
importance of trees
in the environment
thus; he is supportive
of the different
programs/projects of
the government with
regards to protection of our environment. The event was highlighted with guest speaker
Brigadier General Bismar Soliva. In his speech he explains the thinning of the OZONE
LAYER, wherein human activities is the major cause behind it such as; emissions from
vehicles, burning and others. He encouraged the public to plant trees for it absorbs carbon
dioxide and gives off oxygen. He added that trees are oxygen for LIFE. The activity was
participated by all employees of the Provincial-LGU of Sultan Kudarat Province, other
national agencies such as: Philippine National police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines
(AFP), National Food Authority (NFA), Department of Public Works and Highways
(DPWH), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Department of
Education (DepED), the Academe - students and personnel of different schools, and other
private sectors.
“ TAYO ANG KALIKASAN” BOOTH EXHIBIT
June 29 - July 1, 2018 – A
paradigm to effect a real change
in the DENR is the “Peoples’
Environmental Stewardship
Movement” called
“TayoangKalikasan”. It aims to
enjoined stakeholders to get
involved and be responsible in
the preservation of the
environment. The Province of
Sultan Kudarat supports and
joins the opening / launching of
“TayoangKalikasan” movement
held at SM, General Santos City
on June 29, 2018. The event /
program were highlighted by the message of the
Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, emphasizing the essence of TAK along
with the department’s policy direction and the cutting of ribbon to signal the
opening of the exhibit. There are seven (7) exhibitors attended and participated in the
province of Sultan Kudarat led
by PENR Officer, Engr.
Rosalinda B. Cortez, Ph.D.;
supported by 5 LGU’s headed
by Hon. Sultan Pax S.
Mangudadatu, Al Haj, Ph.D;
Hon. Mayor Lina O. Montilla
of Tacurong City; Hon.
Mayor Helen T. Latog,
municipality of Esperanza;
Hon. Mayor Jonalette E. De
Pedro municipality of
Bagumbayan; Hon. Mayor
Princess Rihan M.
Sakaluran of municipality
of Lutayan and from
private entity, Ramon Tan
Mini Sawmill and Lumberyard of Tacurong City. The exhibits showcasing the different
environmental programs / projects and best practices initiated / implemented in their
respective locality relative to ENR conservation and protection effort. For PENRO-SK we
have showcased different types of seedlings in which on the last day of the exhibit the
seedlings were distributed to interested individuals. The event was carry-out successfully.
DENR FAMILY DAY AND AWARDING CEREMONY
June 30, 2018 –Culmination of
the Environment Month
Celebration of DENR-RXII was
held at The Farm, Carpenter
Hills, Koronadal City which was
attended by selected employees
of PENROs and CENROs from
Sarangani,, North Cotabato,
South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat
and personnel from the Regional
Office, EMB and MGB. The
culmination started with a “Larong Pinoy” and the awarding of prizes and trophies to winners
of the sports fest. The formal program started with preliminaries and the special Guest
Speaker was DENR Undersecretary
for Climate Change Service and
Mining Concerns, Atty. Analiza
Rebuelta-Teh and the presence of
UN Goodwill Ambassador and
founder of CORA, Ms. Antoinette
Taus who is encouraging efforts
from everyone to reduce single use
plastic. At the end of the day, the
Family Day celebration was a
success.
