Indigenous Support Services

INDIGENOUS SUPPORT CENTREOur Indigenous Support Centre provides a home away from home to students

enrolled in any Red River College program. Here you can smudge, talk with

support staff or spend time with friends. We provide access to facilities such as

a computer lab, kitchen, study area and lounge. This is also where many of our

events, workshops and ceremonies are held.

Our student supports staff include our Elders-in-Residence, Liaison/Advisors,

Wellness Counsellors, Wellness Advisor, Navigation Coaches, Academic Coaches,

Financial Aid Officer, Transition to Employment Coach, Events Coordinator,

Aspiring Student Manager and Transition to Employment Manager, as well as

the Director and Administrative Assistant.

ELDERS IN RESIDENCEWe recognize that many Indigenous students

who come to Red River College have moved away

from their family, friends and home communities, and

may need to seek the care and guidance of Elders. We also

understand that many Indigenous students want to choose for

themselves how to achieve spiritual balance. We are proud of our

Elder-in-Residence program, which gives students the choice to connect

with the spiritual and cultural supports they feel they need to succeed. The

Elders actively participate in special events, classroom activities and in one-on-

one teachings and guidance sessions with students.

INDIGENOUS LIAISON/ADVISORSOur Indigenous Liaison Advisors can assist you with information on programs, admission

Learn to service and repair lawn and garden equipment, chainsaws, snow throwers, outboard motors, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles. Curriculum includes shop practices, precision measuring, repair and maintenance, as well as two three-week work placements.
