Handover Report

Istanbul,13th February 2015

Welcome On board Ion Rogai !

Logbook/Reporting/Instruction

At 10 oclock you have to fill in the logbook with various figures, most of them can be found in the engine control room.

At T-20, T-15 and T-10 minutes you have to note fuel oil flow meters, A/E running hours and kWh, ME running hours, revolutions and ME running hours.Do not forget to fill up M/E Cylinder Oil Tk.You have to stay there when the pump is running.Fill up till 280 ltrs. Everyday you have to take soundings for which bunker tank we use and write also in logbook the value and temperature. Now we use 2 PS.Chief Engineer told me to do not write in log book the value of ullage, just at 10 oclock write on the small sheet and put it inside the log book. If you done any transfers you have to inform next duty engineer about it.Main Engines

Running satisfactory. Only routine maintenance done. Fuel injection Valves are schedule to be changed soonest possible opportunity.

TC dry cleaning to be done every second day on ME full speed usually 105 rpm or approx. 9500rpm TC. Scavenging drain tank to be drained every rounds. We have some problems with solenoid VIT valve.Still after 85 % of power, the VIT is maximum.Second Engineer decided that when we start sea passage to unplug the power supply.Ask him for more details.

Auxiliary engines

Aux engine 1 Running satisfactory. Can Load up to 700kw continuously without any problems. Overdue for major overhaul

Water pump is leaking. When the generator is running, you have to fill up expansion tank with 50 ltr per day. When the generator is stopped,it loose maybe around 1 ltr per day.

Also some leaks when you change over to DO from Fuel Filters.Third Engineer has in plan to fix it Oil consumption around 40 ltrs per dayAux engine 2

Running satisfactory. Can load up to 700kw continuously without any problem

Overdue for major overhaul

In December we changed the T/C cartridge and the nozzle ring.

Oil consumption is a little bit high, around 60-70 ltrs per day. Sometimes there is problem for disconnecting A/E No.2 from parallel running it suddenly cut out the load , which is not safe if were in high load , all we did is switch in manual mode and reduce the governor manually and disconnect but if your doubt do not hesitate to ask 2/E and 3/E will always help you at the beginning.

Aux engine 3

Running satisfactory. Can load up to 700kw continuously without any problem

Overdue for major overhaul

It has the same problem with Fuel Filters when you change over to DO.

Do not forget, when you change over to DO,to open the by-pass valve because the HFO pressure is going up too much, close to 10 bars. Oil consumption around 30-40 ltrs per day.

Sometimes have a look at Measuring Tk.Should be always above half. When calling European ports it is required that you change to diesel after arrival. And the same goes for departure so it is possible to change to Fuel oil when preparing for departure.Auxiliary Boilers

Used only during manoeuvring or when electric heater or exhaust gas boiler cannot compensate for steam demand for engine room

Working satisfactory

It is your duty to do the water analysis and also to dose every day with chemicals.

In February we changed the flowmeter, the old one we fix it.Sometimes when the boiler is running on DO and outside is cold, the ignator gives some alarms(because the ignator is taking suction from DO IG TK)Exhaust Gas Boilers

Working satisfactory

Soot blowing is done by motorman every second day on ME full speed usually 105rpm or approx. 9500rpm of TC

Electrical Boiler/Heater

Used whenever possible

All four elements are working satisfactoryWhen you start Electrical boiler, start first of all the pump, keep it running for some time, around 5 minutes and after switch on each element.Wait around 30 seconds between.

PurifiersI do not know if till now you worked with Alfa Laval purifiers. But it is very easy to start and to stop it.First of all you need to open the valves :

Steam valves and return line

Water

Inlet and outlet for oil/fuel oil

You have to start the feed pump and separator. After you have to start de heater.Just you keep press for 2 seconds and after release the button. Now you have to wait till the amperes are going down. For FO and DO purifier below 10 A and for LO purifier below 4 A.Now you have just to press the start button.FO purifier

Both purifiers are running satisfactory. No. 1 has more running hours and so we are running no. 2 all the time

We stop purifiers when we are in port or in anchorage.ME LO purifier

No.2 you can not run because the steam regulating v/v is not working. We keep no. 1 running all the time when ME is running. We stop purifier when we are in port or anchorageAE LO purifier

Running satisfactory

We keep this one running all the time on generator in service

Inert gas generatorFor adjust oxygen use pressure reduction valve. Normally all test 2/E doing.Currently we are starting the IG plant and the C/O is stopping it.

Sewage plant

It is working fine without any problems.Check every day the chorine tablets tubes, fill as necessary, sometimes tablets getting stuck.

Check every day the flow in the lifting hose to ensure that Sewage Plant is working properly.

Once per week open the Chlorination tk. and clean with a jet of fresh water.

You have every week to clean the flotor sensor.Once time per mounth you have to clean each chamber. After cleaning diluate 2 packs of bacteria in a bucket and trow in to the E/R toilet and flush the toilet. You can find the bacteria box and also all the chemicals which you need in Rope Store.

Now the sewage plant has the discharge to aft peak.

Transfers

You are in charge with DO transfers. In Rotterdam,in December,we received DO bunker with high content of paraffin. When ambient temperature is below 10 C,paraffin clogged filters. For A/Es this DO doesnt makes any problems, only for IG.You have this DO in 1 PS bunker tank and DO PS BOTTOM TK.You can use purifier to take suction from 1 PS and to top up DO Service TK.For return line from DO purifier, use DO PS BOTTOM TK. Everytime before to changeover generators to DO you have to recirculate and to warm up DO SERVICE TK,around 40-45 degrees in booster room and around 20 degrees bottom platform.

For IG we use DO from DO STB BOTTOM TK.(new DO from Greece).

After every discharge, you have to top up DO IG TK,till 1.36 meters that meens around 10 cubic meters.Try to note in your papers when you start transfer, from which level, which temperature and sounding and the final result.

If you done transfers after 10 oclock, give to Chief Engineer next day.Bunker Tanks

Remember everytime when you open the steam for some tanks,to open all the return valves. You have 4 valves for each tank. Except Minor TK. You can not check the temperature for Minor Tk from computer. You have to take the temperature gun,and check the temperature of manhole. You are in charge to take soundings for bunker tanks. You can find the sounding tape and the bucket in Workshop.

Daily checks

First of all add chemicals for boilers and check the expansion tank.

Check oil for all compressors (working air compressor- oil: Cetus 46 and starting air compressor- oil: Cetus 100)

Check the air pillow hydrophor.

The level of hot well and fill up if it is necessary.

In the Framo room there is an ICCP sheet for cathodes protection, you have to fill it in but now this one it is switched off because is not working. Also one sheet for cathodes protection of the sea chests has to be filled in; it can be found on the tank top port side.

You have to fill in the shaft-monitoring (stern tube fwd, stern tube aft, interm and sea water temperature) sheet daily. You should drain Do service tk,Fo service tk,Fo settling tk,working air bottles and starting air bottles. Also you should check the bilges and pumped as necessary.

Weekly checks

Anyway 3/E is in charge to test rescue boat, life boat, emergency generator and fire flaps but you can help him.

You should do the test analyses for:

M/E Cooling water

Exhaust Gas Boiler

Auxiliary Boiler

You should check the % of water in the Lub. Oil for:

M/E

Camshaft

Stern tube

Bow thruster

Stern thruster

Framo P/P

A/E 1,2,3

Emergency generatorMontly checks

You should fill up the monthly report

The form are located on drive M:\4th Engineer\Montly Report\2015After you finished all of these you should convert all the excel file to PDF file for:

M/E Cooling Water

Exhaust Gas boiler water

Auxiliary boiler water

% of water in the lub. Oil

Jotun Electrolytic Antifouling System

Log Screwshaft Condition Monitoring(SCM)

ICCP Logsheet

Those files need to be copied in drive M:\Ch.Eng.HJH\Monthly\Monthly PDF 2015You should measure the CO2 bottles(10 bottles per mounth). You will find the measurement equipment in trafo room.

Have a Safe Voyage!
