Account Manager Support – Graduate Trainee

Background

Graduate trainees will work in a Trainee Account Manager Support role, obtaining a thorough grounding in banking through work experience, and the bank will support professional training up to the point the staff obtain their professional qualifications.

Future opportunities within the bank are unlimited. A move into a full time Account Manager Support role is anticipated, prior to a move into Account Management. Opportunities then exist for our staff to move into more specialist areas or one of our regional head offices and ultimately senior management. As our staff gain experience, mobility among our branches is encouraged: vacancies frequently appear in our fast moving organisation, with priority being given to internal candidates.

Trainee Account Manager Support

Description

Reporting to the Branch Manager, this is an exciting position created with the aim for the individual to obtain a thorough grounding in banking by working initially with documentation and customer support teams, assisting Corporate and Individual Banking Managers in developing and managing commercial and individual banking business and providing outstanding service to the Bank’s clients The role will initially consist of general administrative duties supporting the wider activities of the branch.

As the role develops through training the following duties will also be included:

Handling client account enquiries through liaison with general back office functions including the Payment Support Team and other support teams.

Opening and Closing Accounts including Mortgages, Current, Savings and Loans including any subsequent amendments and routine aspects including data input

liaising with agency banks Setting up and amending customer account details Monthly returns and internal branch accounting General branch administrative tasks Ultimately, issuing facility letters and taking security for customer lending

Development Potential

Anticipated development will initially be the opportunity to progress into a full Account Manager Support role.

There will be ample scope for the successful applicant to develop general banking knowledge and credit skills within the Branch in both the Individual and Corporate markets.

Career opportunities within the Handelsbanken Group are many and varied, either developing within the Branch or through internal transfer to other branches or Head Office departments.

The Bank will support and provide sponsorship for further professional training such as CeMap and the ACIB qualifications.

Qualifications

While specific subject disciplines are not important, we are looking for well rounded students with strong academic achievements and an interest in finance.They must be self starters, numerate, articulate, personable, hardworking and demonstrate an aptitude for banking.

There will be significant contact with customers and external professional bodies and effective communication skills are essential. He/she must also have full appreciation of the need to provide an exceptional level of service to both existing and potential clients and have good time management and organisation skills and attention to detail to protect the bank in a lending environment.

In order to successfully undertake this role, a high level of computer literacy with routine Microsoft packages is essential. Training will be given on additional internal IT systems. The team works closely to build the business and the applicant must be flexible, conscientious, with a positive attitude and a strong team player with the ability to demonstrate a willingness to develop a long term career with the bank.
