MOMAD Shoes, showcasing trends Sartia, a company specialised in consultancy and training for the retail sector, offers an advance at MOMAD Shoes on the key trends in footwear and accessories for the 2017/18 Autumn-Winter season. According to these experts, the footwear we can expect for the winter season will be markedly nature-oriented, favouring a comfortable and functional style, using natural and recycled materials. Male styles and a military influence for both men and women are set to gain in popularity. Furthermore, the most classic option will come in the form of velvets and luxurious adornments on shoes with moderate heels or moccasins and ankle boots for men. The 70s and 80s, and 50s movies will also make their presence felt in footwear that combines past and present, while taking up the stiletto heel and square toes for women and the moccasin and flat seam for men. Lastly, sports footwear is set to adopt rather refined and sober styles, emphasising comfort in the upper parts and soles. New promotion and dissemination platforms One of the most relevant parallel activities is the new Pasarela MOMAD Catwalk, in which a selection of the exhibitors will showcase their new collections by way of several fashion shows to be held in the morning and evening sessions throughout the three-day event. Pons Quintana, Umber Shoes, Egidio Alves, Luxury Shoes, Exe, Acebos, Mayoral, Xti, Shanu, Gioseppo, Bricoshoes and Elenco are just some of the firms which have signed up to take part. Moreover, the fashion show on Saturday at 5.00 p.m. will be held in collaboration with the Madrid Down Syndrome Foundation. At this show, twenty children aged 5–12 years with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, along with children with no disabilities, will be taking part as models. The catwalk will take place in Hall 7, alongside the Winter Terrace, the rest area and meeting point for the event, which will be livened up by DJ sessions and where a tasty range of food and drink will be on offer from a group of food trucks.

Innovation and trends in Sustainable Fashion Responsible and socially committed fashion, which fosters ethical and environmental criteria, as well as economic ones, in its different production and marketing processes, once again takes centre stage at MOMAD Shoes by means of the its new SHOES Sostenible sector. Within this framework the show is to cater for the “Sustainable Experience" area at which leading companies in sustainable footwear will present their projects on this matter and the parameters they use in the manufacturing and sale of their products. They will be sharing the space with a variety of young companies that are attending the event with a selection of designer collections especially adapted to the multi-brand channel.

Moreover, in collaboration with the Slow Fashion Next fashion platform, “Sustainable Experience” will include various workshops at which visitors can discover first-hand what

the principles and applicable standards are in the production of sustainable footwear and the end value that they offer end consumers. Furthermore, innovation in the Sustainable Fashion field figures on the MOMAD Forum agenda, as part of which the Technological Institute for Footwear and Related Industries (INESCOP) and the Technological Centre for Footwear of La Rioja (CTCR) will be holding a round table discussion on “Sustainable technological processes applied to footwear”, to take place on Sunday 5 March. The latest advances in sustainable techniques being applied in research centres will be discussed here.

“Sustainable Experience” is also counting on the collaboration and presence of some of the most representative organisations in the sector, like the Madrid Sustainable Fashion Association (MSMAD), the Barcelona Sustainable Fashion Association (MSBCN), the Murcia Sustainable Fashion Association (MSM), the Andalusia Sustainable Fashion Association (AMSA) and the Extremadura Sustainable Fashion Association (MOSE). Spanish footwear targets new markets The Spanish footwear industry continues committed to diversifying its target markets beyond the EU, as attested to by the figures provided by the Spanish Federation of Footwear Industries (FICE) reflecting a rise of 4.23% in the value of exports to third countries, which translates into €621.6 million and 29.2 million pairs of shoes. Notwithstanding, the European Union continues to be the main buyer of Spanish products. Fifty-eight per cent (58%) of the total export sales are for leather footwear, whereas 85% of the imports are made of rubber, plastic and textiles. Spanish leather products continue to grow abroad and preserve their prestige. Indeed, the sector exported goods to the value of €840.2 million from January to November 2016 according to the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) data provided by the Spanish Association of Leather Producers (ASEFMA). This shows a rise of 3.4% with respect to the same period the previous year, which returned a figure of €812.8 million. France, Italy, Portugal and the United Kingdom are the leading buyers of Spanish leather products. Handbags, followed by natural, artificial and regenerated leather garments, straps, belts and bandoleers are the most popular products beyond our shores. The sector debates at the MOMAD Forum and MOMAD Fashion Lab In parallel to the trade show, MOMAD Shoes offers a complete and attractive range of activities to add drive to the event and generate added-value experiences. Among the different scheduled initiatives a new call to the MOMAD Forum, the area offering information and knowledge at the event in Hall 5, is particularly noteworthy. There, professionals, companies and institutions will be analysing new footwear industry business models, key trends for the new seasons and sustainable technological processes applied to footwear, among other subjects, through a series of round tables, papers and seminars. The multi-brand channel also has its own space in the MOMAD Fashion Lab, an event organised by MOMAD-Eventos de Moda en Madrid in collaboration with Modaes.es, where issues such as the challenges facing the footwear industry; the future of distribution in the

Moreover, the Footwear Museum will be revealing this year's winner of the Award to the Best Shod Woman 2016 at MOMAD Shoes, an award based on an idea conceived by the film maker Luis García Berlanga and Princess Tessa of Bavaria. substances that affect footwear and its components (REACH regulations) will also be brought to light. Made in Spain footwear, the conquest of new markets Until November 2016, the Spanish footwear industry exported products amounting to 2,464 million Euros (144 million pairs). Non-Community exports for footwear increased by 4.23% in value, registering 621.6 million Euros and 29.2 million pairs. 58% of sales abroad correspond to leather footwear and 85% to imports in rubber or plastic and textile. Between January and November 2016, Spain exported leather goods amounting to 840.2 million Euros, 3.4% more than in 2015. Economic report on foreign trade for the footwear and leather goods' industry created with data from the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE) and the Spanish Association of Leather Goods' Manufacturers (ASEFMA) The Spanish footwear industry is strongly committed to the diversification of its target markets beyond the EU countries. This is illustrated by the fact that non-Community exports increased by 4.2% in value between January and November 2016. This is clear from the economic report created by IFEMA with data provided by the Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE) and the Spanish Association of Leather Goods' Manufacturers (ASEFMA), on the occasion of MOMAD Shoes, the International Event for Footwear and Accessories, which takes place between 4 and 6 March at Feria de Madrid. Until November 2016, the total exports for footwear amounted to 2,464.1 million Euros (144 million pairs), which means an increase of 1.9% in volume and a reduction of 9.4% in value, compared with the same period in 2015. Non-Community countries are those that have registered the greatest progress over the months analysed. These markets represent 25% of the exports in value and 20% in volume, amounting to 621.6 million Euros and 29.2 million pairs, which results in an increase of 4.2% in value and 1.2% in volume compared with the previous year. In short, the sales for Spanish footwear experienced a good result with an increase in value in Algeria (24%), South Korea (20.9%), the United States (14.8%), Switzerland (13.1%) or Canada (10.9%), among others. Main European buyers On the other hand, the European Union continues to be the main buyer of Spanish footwear both in terms of volume (80% of exports) and value (75% of the total). Therefore, the business generated by this geographical area represented 1,842.6 million Euros and 11.5 million pairs. France, with 18.8% of the total quota for export, leads the ranking for Spanish sales abroad, with 463.8 million Euros and 30.8 million pairs. This data reflects reductions of 20.9% in value and 5.3% in terms of pairs.

The best progress is observed in Italy, ranking second as a buyer of Spanish footwear with 287.6 million Euros and 17.2 million pairs, where exports have increased in a very positive manner, with 9.71% in value and 17.1% in terms of pairs. The Alpine country represents 11.9% of the total exports. Germany represents 9.5% of the business and ranks third as a buyer with 234.5 million Euros and 11.3 million pairs. In this case, export figures dropped by 9% in value, despite an increase of 2% in terms of pairs. The fourth place, with 7.7% market share, is for the United Kingdom, where export figures have reached 189 million Euros and 9.4 million pairs. In this case, it must be highlighted that, despite the fact that increases were very significant in 2015 (16.5% in volume and 19.5% in value), in the progress until November 2016, the effects of Brexit and the depreciation of the pound have started to be noticed. Therefore, the data demonstrates a drop of 14.1% in value, despite the number of pairs exported increasing by 5.4%. Lastly, in Portugal (7.0% of share), sales dropped by 7.9%, even though they increase in volume (1.2%), with figures of 173.4 million Euros and 13.5 million pairs.

JANUARY-NOVEMBER 2016 EXPORTS More than half of the sales are from leather footwear According to the data held by FICE, 58% of the total value of the turnover corresponds to leather footwear, the most important sub-sector of the Spanish sector in its line for women,

This reflects increases of 5.2% in pairs and 4.9% in terms of value. As a second supplier in the ranking is Vietnam, with 8.2% of the total share, and 23 million pairs amounting to 293 million Euros. Also remarkable is the increase in imports deriving from the Netherlands, the third supplier with 4% of the market. An increase that is demonstrated both in terms of volume (66.7%) and value (60.9%), and represented by 11.4 million pairs and 201.6 million Euros. Bangladesh climbs in positions and ranks fourth with 9.1 million pairs amounting to 64 million Euros, and growths of 19% and 21% respectively. The imports from Italy strengthen their growth, which began in 2015, and the Alpine country ranks fifth as a supplier in pairs (8.5 million pairs), but third in terms of value (228.6 million Euros). Country themes, sophistication and influences from the 1970s and 1980s, are key elements of the coming Autumn/Winter 2017/2018 season, according to Sartia. The new footwear collections are inspired by five lines: RAW, Kitsch, Practical Chic, Winter Sunset and Urban Utility Sartia, a company specialising in consultancy and training for the retail sector, offers a preview at MOMAD Shoes of the important guidelines for footwear trends for the following Autumn-Winter 2017/18 season, in terms of materials, colours, shapes and details. The new collections respond to five lines of inspiration: RAW, Kitsch, Practical Chic, Winter Sunset and Urban Utility. The footwear that we will see in the next Autumn/Winter season 2017/18 is marked by a plea in favour of nature, with a comfortable and functional style and natural and recycled materials. Masculine styles and designs with a military influence gain popularity for both men and women. Similarly, the more classic contribution will come in the form of velvets and opulent adornments in moderate-heeled shoes or moccasins and ankle boots for them. The memory of the 1970s and 1980s, and the cinema of the 1950s, will also be seen in footwear that combines the past and present, and which bring back the stiletto heel and square toe for women, and moccasin and French seams for men. Finally, sports shoes adopt refined and understated styles, focused on the comfort of the upper parts and soles. RAW

This line explores the increasing decline in direct contact with nature. For women, the season comes in the form of footwear that inspires a quirky style with designs that focus on functionality. Country themes that breathe the English countryside, with the use of tweeds and stockinette for men and women. Shoes with a heel or dressier styles take precedence, for the beginning of autumn, and heavier leather boots for winter days. For men and

women, simple shapes become coarser with cosy skins like sheep skin, long-haired skin or weather-resistant synthetic materials. Basic military influences stand out for men and women. Masculine styles like moccasins and utility boots gain popularity. The combination of different colours, materials and finishes is present in each of the designs of the line.

KITSCH This trend is committed to models in classic and sophisticated designs, made with sumptuous and warm materials, such as velvet and skins that can be polished, especially in grenadine, burgundy, blue, black, grey and

silver colours. Opulent adornments, rivets, ankle straps, ruffles and pleated coarse materials, moderate heels, more closed-toe and refined styles that we will see in designs such as sandals, shoes with heels, Chelsea boots, Swedish style crest, moccasin, ankle boots, Oxford or single-strap types, among others.

PRACTICAL CHIC

The designs of this line are discrete. Striking styles are sacrificed at the expense of simplicity. The materials used are natural, essentially recycled, creating unique looks. Many of them are also inspired by upholstery and inner surfaces. Simple combinations and functional unions inspired by modern tailoring take precedence in the designs. They emphasise the

practical details, like the clasps and fastenings, the functional and striking fastenings. The thicker soles and soles with panels in the purest sports style and heels with constructions and details that are simple yet sophisticated, will bestow you with this contemporary and timeless appeal. Muted colours are dominant in the collection. WINTER SUNSET The past and present are combined in this line, along with what is real and virtual, unusual and luxury and maximalist and minimalist styles. The designs are inspired by subtle influences, especially from the 1970s and 1980s, with post-retro ideas of the past and present, but with an unmistakeably modern feel supported by technology; and with a special focus on the cinema of the 1950s. Striking and moderate block colours are evident for the styles of

simple footwear. For women, classic vintage silhouettes such as stiletto heels and square toe designs are redeemed and altered. And for men, moccasins and French seams are part of the everyday attire. The opulent materials, like snakeskin or crocodile skin, are key elements, in addition to those of newly created rubberised or matte finishes, among others.

URBAN UTILITY

Sports shoes adopt refined and understated styles. The comfort of the tops and soles remains an important focus. The constructions focus on subtle details, such as stitches or panels that are used to introduce colours or materials. For boys, the height of the boot is increased. And for

girls, Moc style and details like laces, elastics and fastenings are evident. Different materials are used from the most opulent to the most innovative in any of the designs.

The street and urban footwear for the next Autumn-Winter 17/18 season takes its inspiration from the fashions of the eighties, with bold designs and glittery, shiny and metallised finishes, patent leather, zips, studs and all kinds of decorative elements. Next season the shop windows will be filled with ankle boots and boots of many kinds –cowboy, alpine, military or high boots – plus sneakers and designs with a masculine influence – bluchers and oxfords. Cuban heels and block or platform rubber soles, teamed with materials like suede, split leather and lycra will be “in” for yet another winter. Shades of grey, browns and blacks will continue to play a leading role in the collections.

Court shoes, pumps, brogues, desert shoes, and oxfords and sneakers, as well as an extremely complete collection of boots and ankle boots in a variety of styles, are the offerings from Xti for next season. Avant-garde materials like suedecloth, split-grain leather and patent leather in black, brown and wine, maroon and khaki are the firm’s top colours. The brand has also given in to gilt, silver, lead and bronze metal finishes, while glittery textures and animal prints remain the star finishes of the collection. Wide heels for boots and ankle boots and double soles for boyfriend-style shoes, bluchers and oxfords lead the firm’s trends for Autumn/Winter 17/18.

An urban look and an eighties air define the new collection from Calzados Victoria. The firm, in business for over 100 years, has reinterpreted its iconic models in broad ranges of colours, textures and innovative finishes. Glittery prints, velvet, suedecloth and metallized finishes with patches combined with platform soles add shape and texture to the models in the

collection. The basketball-inspired footwear for men and women also has one-colour metal-effect finishes and crackle techniques, evoking rock’s most brilliant era. The boho trend is present this winter in fringed details and prints, and models with linings that will ensure a comfortable, relaxed style. The sports models – with or

without platforms – and the chelsea boots in waxed split-grain leather are also presented in a wide range of colours. Picadilly is showing heavier models with wide, thick platforms and tractor-tread soles. Shoes with knots and braid come in velvety and patent leather-like textiles. Metallized finishes are the star trend for boots and sports models, displaying the firm’s futuristic designs. Details like flare heels are used on boots and sandals; sleepers and loafers combine a mixture of colours with patent leather and felting. The brand has also opted for wide heels and a very elongated silhouette at the toes, making the foot look narrower and more delicate. Picadilly is introducing boots in every style, from urban designs with ankle-height models to the most sophisticated offerings in velvet with buckles and zips. Another two hits that promise to update women’s styles when winter comes are chelsea boots and utility models. Legging boots are back in even greater strength, with a variety of models and heights.

Carolina Boix has decided on an urban line of shoes and accessories with metallized and felt finishes, and python and alligator skin. Among her designs are court shoes, pumps, boots and ankle boots, Oxfords and sneakers in split-grain leather, microfibre or patent leather in brown, dark blue, black, grey,

maroon and khaki.

Versatility and diversity are the central pillar of the D’Angela styles for the coming Autumn/Winter 17/18. The result is a minimalist collection in split-grain leather, textiles and stretchy microfibre, in a range of colours dominated by neutral, metallized and dark shades, such as brown, grey, navy blue, maroon, nude, gold, silver and bronze. Functional designs and sophisticated stilettos, bluchers with laces, boyfriend-style moccasins, pumps, sneakers and a varied line of captivating boots and ankle boots complete their designs.

Comfort and sophistication define the new collection from Momem, which is also notable for the ornaments and appliqués in patent leather, padding, leather finishes, synthetic leather, zips, elastic and rubber soles. The pumps have flexibility and a blend of textures and materials, while the ankle boots and court shoes, flat or with a heel, blend comfortable lines with the latest trends. The blucher-style shoes are rich in details: tongues on the uppers, laces, patent leather rivets and die-cut details. The colours range from classic greys, blacks and

browns to edgier colours like ochre and maroon. The newExé Shoes collection features the use of leather in combination with materials like lycra, suede and velvet. As a new feature, the firm is presenting court shoes, ankle boots and boots with medium height Cuban heels, with encrusted, transparent beads and shoes with rounded toes in classic black, beige, brown and maroon, and not forgetting that transparent PVC heel, which was all the rage last season. Finishing off the collection are high boots, made of suede or lycra with a discreet glitter, in XXL sizes, and their line of fantasy sneakers, on which sequins and glitter predominate, made of suede and patent leather blended with synthetic leather or bows. Also highlighted are ankle boots-short socks made of cloth and velvet. For the prints, floral motifs with very distinctive embroidery bring light and colour to the collection. They continue to be trendy, while animal prints do appear but very timidly. Boots and ankle boots, the winter tandem Faithful to their style, Sendra Boots return with a cowboy inspiration and a balance of classical and new trends in their upcoming collection. Ethnic embroidery, fringes, metal trims and earth tones are the common theme for ankle boots of different heights. Standing out in the new men's collection are the models with more pointed toes, plus cowboy looks and special leathers. The brand also includes some more urban models with original laces among its designs.

The new Refresh collection is tinted in winter shades of brown, maroon, navy blue, black, khaki and grey. Suedecloth and split-grain leather stand out as the leading materials, with metallized finishes, animal prints, metal appliqués and floral prints to decorate the uppers and add character to bluchers, oxfords, pumps, sneakers, court shoes and a large collection of boots and ankle boots. Another of the firm's trends for the coming season are heel heights that are designed for comfort, with wide heels on the boots and ankle boots, and sneakers with double soles, track soles and platforms.

Richness and a blending of materials, mixture of textures, ornaments in synthetic leather, sparkle, metallized appliqués and sequins are the leading lights of the new Break&Walk collection for Autumn/Winter 17/18. and soles and blocks of rubber and micropore.
