Dear Governor Pence,

I have been both fortunate and honored to serve my alma mater Ball State and the citizens of Indiana

as a Ball State Trustee for the past 10 years. Your reappointment of Marianne Glick and myself to a

third four year term two years ago, came at a critical time for the board with President Gora

announcing her retirement and the rigorous process of selecting a new president just starting. The

entire board appreciated your understanding of the situation at that time and our reappointment to

the board.

\Mhile continuity on any board is good, fresh faces, new ideas and term limits are also very much

rieeded for any organiiation to prosper and improve. The Ball State Board of Trustees now with a

new president very much different than fo Ann needs some fresh faces, new ideas on its board as

well.

Offering to step down from anything and certainly this trustee position before my term is over, is not

something I tai<e lightly. But in this case, I certainly feel it is in the best interests of Ball State that I do.

I serve in this position atyour pleasure and will continue to do so until you announce my

replacemenL

Prior to the trustee appointment in 2006, I served on the MSD Warren School Board for 8 years

which I did enjoy *rking a difference in our community and youth. Over the past 10 years while

serving as a Ball State Trustee, I have also served on several other civic boards; 500 Festival, Paiers

Foundition, Ball State Foundation, Peyback Foundation, Indianapolis Zoo to name a few. Currently I

serve on t}1e Community Health Network Foundation as its immediate past chairman, a term which

ends next year. So if you have a need for someone who understands the importance of civic duty, fimknows where to find me.

My best to you and your family this holiday season.

Sincerely
