Hammer AwakeningPART ONE

SET UP THE ALTER BEFORE STARTING RITUAL.

LAYING OUT ALL THE REQUIRED ITEMS. TO PERFORM THIS RITUAL YOU SHOULD HAVE

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ON HAND:THE HAMMERA CANDLEBLACK CLOTHLEATHER CORD

NEEDLE OR RAZOR

SMALL TABLE OR ALTER STAND

You can call upon the Gods, Goddesses, Norns, and your ancestors to bear witness to this ritual. Thisshould be done after the Hammer Hallowing

Step One: Starting in the north, perform the Hammer Hallowing to the eight Aettir. (The Eight fold

division of the Sky: North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, and Northwest.)

Step Two: Light candle and sign the Kenaz rune three times over the candle while saying:Cleansing flame of ancestral might, awaken andjoin the searching souls so that

strengthening they will be.

Step Three: Holding the hammer high, call upon Thor to accept you as a warrior for the folk saying:Mighty Thunder God, My brother, may this hammer be filled with your power,that I be marked as a warrior of the folk.

Step Four: Placing the hammer before you on the black cloth and prepare to offer sacrifice then say:

Thor protector of the folk, by this blood offering do I join with your will, may

our father Odin, guide us along this Path.

Then make the cut or prick your finger and place your blood on the hammer while saying:Laguz, Laguz, Laguz, Blood of Kvasir be blessed, Rune might blooms in the

blend

Step Five: Wrap the hammer in the black cloth and bind it with leather cord while saying:Into the den of darkness deep wend thy way, undoomed yet, Nights all nine,while away thy spell, sleep, gain and grow in weal and wealth.

Bury the hammer in sacred land if possible, if not, put away for nine nights.

1Hammer Hallowing= religious gesture symbolizing Thor's Hammer. Invokes the hallowing and protecting

presence of Thor. To Hammer-Sign yourself: with clenched fist, touch forehead, just below breastbone, just below

left breast, then just below right breast. You have essentially made an upside-down capital T. You can also make

the same gesture in the air over anything you wish to hallow. Ben Middleton once made it in the air in front of him

while calling on Thor to successfully stop a perusing pack of feral dogs! Don't go out of your way to test that out

yourself; Thor helps those who help themselves! Seems to have been a pre-Christian sign, although this is open to

debate.
