Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

VISIon

Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

//1

Dear Friends, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA) has had an amazing year. As we look back, we are proud to say that Habitat LA has now served nearly 800 families in our local community and worldwide and is looking to forward to serving even more families in the coming year. The support of our donors, volunteers and advocates not only build the walls of a home but bring a lasting impact and the beginning of a positive change for our partner homeowners.

Thank you so much for joining with us in our mission and we hope that you find inspiration in these pages, knowing that you have made a significant difference in someone’s life.

We look forward to partnering with you in the coming year as we continue to build hope, lives and communities in greater Los Angeles and around the world.

“we not only build a home, but a stronger community by bringing in a Habitat for Humanity family to set roots in our neighborhoods.”HONORABLE BOB FOSTER, FORMER MAYOR OF LONG BEACH

tHe otIS fAMIlyClaudia Otis’ life has flourished since

moving into her Habitat LA home

in Long Beach; Today her life is very

different from 12 years ago when she

and her three young children were

living in a homeless shelter. Claudia

made a commitment to herself and

her children that one day she would

own a home to show her children that

it is possible to overcome extreme

challenges if you work hard. Her

journey to homeownership began

with receiving a voucher for Section

8 Housing and attending school.

While working full-time she was able

to obtain her GED, certification in

substance abuse counseling as well

as her associate’s and bachelor’s

degrees. She is currently working

on her master’s degree in clinical

psychology.

Claudia has truly made the life she

always dreamed of possible with

the help of Habitat LA and given her

children the foundation for a better

future.

“being a homeowner means everything to me and this journey has allowed me to teach my children that with integrity and hard work anything is possible.”CLAUDIA OTIS, HABITAT LA HOMEOWNER
