Nandile said on Sunday they went to the Hammanskraal police station and drove with them to Kanana where the initiation school is located. When Jingaringa came back he told them the children are there but they have not yet joined the initiates and they slept at the waiting area. “Jingaringa told us that we must pay the fine of R750 00 and we told him we don’t have money and our children were taken without our knowledge” alleges Nandile. She further said that Jingaringa went in the initiation and came with the boys and instructed them to face the front whereby he sprinkled them with water in the presence of the police officers. She also alleges that the man then instructed some of his helpers to cut some hairs and nails of the three boys which he put in the plastic. Nandile told Hammanskraal News that Jingar- inga told them that if they do not pay the fine the boys will go crazy. “I am very shocked because Jingaringa did this in the presence of the police officers who just kept quiet and never intervened” complained Nandile. She further questioned how come police never arrested Jingaringa and his recruiters. One of the parents whose child was also abducted said that she is worried about children’s safety, mostly during winter holidays as its the time for initiations. Nandile furiously said that she will not pay any fine as according to their family they do not undergo initiation and none of them have ever been there. She further told Hammanskraal News that her son told her that before they were taken to the school they were taken to the bottle store where they were ordered to drink alcohol. Nandile condemned such action because she states that the children are too young to consume alcohol as they are just 15 years old.

Winter season is when, in most traditions boys, un-dergoes initiation school as part of the transition from teenager to adult hood. Initiates are expected to have respect and manners for the elders of their community. However some parents where left trau-matized after their children were taken to the initia-tion schools without their knowledge. One of them *Nandile of Temba in Hammanskraal told Ham-manskraal News that she lives in fear after her son and his two friends were taken to initiation school without their parents consent.

She said that on Saturday 28 June evening she was sur-prised when her son Sipho didn't come back home till very late. She said that she went to the neighbours to search for her son but she met her friend who told her that Sipho was taken by a certain guy to the initiation school. “ I was very angry because in our family no one have undergone initiation school and, surprised be-cause before the June school holidays my son pleaded with me to take him to do Medical Male Circumcision (MMC) at the local hospital which he did” said Nandile. She told Hammanskraal News that they went to Ham-manskraal SAPS the very same night but they were told to come the next day (Sunday). She said that when he asked his son why he decided to go to the initiation he respond-ed by saying that he wanted to receive the teachings of the initiations known as molao. Modiba said that she plead with children not to go to the initiation schools without their parent’s permission as they will get their parents in trouble as some of them they are unemployed they cannot pay the money needed. Hammanskraal News spoke to Ham-manskraal SAPS Liaison Officer Sergeant Makhotso Mphenyeke if there is the case

opened against Jingaringa. Mphenyeke said that no case has been opened as ac-cording to Jingaringa the boys came on their own (to the initiation school) and he was on his way to their parents’ homes to inform them that their children came to his initiation. “I want the public who have evidence that there are those recruit-ing for initiation to come forward so that they can be identified in order for justice to take its cause” emphasized Mphenyeke. She further said that children must speak with their parents if they want to go initia-tion schools for permission because most of them are minors .

Sgt Mphenyeke said that they also face challenges with most of the youth who are from initiation as at schools. “Most of them are unruly and disrespectful so as the police we are called to intervene, young boys must focus on their education as they are still under 18 years. Meanwhile a man (61) from Alexandra have been ar-rested after he was found with nyaope with the street value of R28 000. Accord-ing to Mphenyeke the man was arrested at R101 road heading to Hammanskraal at around 9H00 on Sunday, July 13.*Not the real name

Sebushane Moobi National Union of Metal Workers of South Africa embarked on a national strike as from 30 June in demand for wage increases. The Union members attended their National gathering in Johannesburg on the said date to submit a memo-randum of their demands. They said that the strike is aimed to be as such until their demands are met. It was further said that if the mine strikers associated with Marikana did not die of hunger, then the same would happen to them. The Union is adamant that workers are paid peanuts when their employers swim in monies that they (workers) sweat to bring.According to some of the shop stewards not to be mentioned, all the workers were ordered not to report for work. They stated the following day that some “amagun-dwane” (rats) ignored the warning and reported for duty. These alleged “amagun-dwane” were searched and sent out of the factories. It was clarified that if there was anyone at work whilst others were on strike, production would continue and the employer would not feel the prick of the strike. Those who were taken out of the fac-tory premises were neither threatened nor hurt in the process. The affected factories during the picketing when people were ordered out of factories included Sectional poles, Modula masts, Forgewere, Penbro and Global Material Technology (G.M.T)respectively. The police came to the scenes of the eviction to monitor the progress and protect those who needed it. It was explained that the march and picketing were intended to be peaceful. It was emphasized that other people’s rights should not be violated during the strike and picketing and that order should be maintained at all costs. Among others, NUMSA demands better salaries at 15 percent all round per employ-ee. Thulani explained that some of their members were ill-treated at the work place when others were handled with kid-gloves. He further relayed that the employer was prepared to pay the workers 7 percent which, according to the Union, is very low. On the other hand, the union demands a housing allowance of not less than R2 500.00 per month payable to the worker in the industry. The demands include 10 percent for morning shift, 15 percent afternoon shift, 25 percent night shift when transport must be paid by the company. Some of the Babelegi workers complained that most workers rate up to R100.00 per day in a metal factory. They explained that the rate is very low and far from being a living wage. It was also claimed that some workers had been dismissed for becoming members of the Union whilst others were advised by employers to resign from union membership. At the time of going to print, Numsa and the employer representatives were stuck at 10 percent dead log.

We no longer want this church in our community - residentsHammanskraal News wrote an article about the church that some residence no longer want in their community due to the issue between June 22 and July 11 this year on our front page with the headline COMMUNITY AND THE CHURCH TURN VIOLENT. The article was about the fight that erupted between some of the congregation and some community mem-bers at what the church call “prayer land” in the forest near Rockville location in Temba. It was alleged some community members armed with sjamboks confronted some congregants about allegations of satanic practices when the fight took place.

After the incident which took place on June 19 some community members went to Temba SAPS for help while some congregants ran for safety to the same location. This is after they alleged that they were assaulted by some of the commu-nity members who also burnt their cross at their “prayer land”. Temba SAPS officers arranged a meeting with the church leader by the name of ‘Prophet’ Godfrey Nkhumishe, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Educators, Pastors United Movement of South Africa (PUMSA) and repre-sentatives of Temba SAPS to solve the matter ac-cording to CPF Deputy Chairperson Levy Matjila. Those representing Temba SAPS was Captain William Madisha of Social Crime Prevention Sec-tor 1 Manager, W/O Swaratle and W/O Ditlamelo of Sector 4 Manager. On Wednesday, 9 this month Temba SAPS invited community members at Top 11 soccer pitch for the feedback and invited the church leader who never came to respond to the allegations made by some residents. Residents came in numbers while congregation members of Love of Christ Is A Global Gift was represented by just a handful of members. Matjila told community members that they had a meeting with Nkhumishe and they discovered that he did not have the relevant documents for a prophet. “Nkhumishe told us (CPF and Police) during the meeting at the po-lice station that he had a vision of saving youth of Rockville from substance abuse and he decided to

start church together with his other four friends” alleges Matjila.Constance Morare Ward 74 who is a member of Councilor’s Ward Committee who was part of the meeting confirmed the allegation by further stat-ing that Nkhumishe said that he had a vision while he was sitting on the couch at his home of starting the church. Matjila further said that according to Nkhumishe their church have a task team com-mittee of ten whom are youth. We told Nkhum-ishe that we have a problem that the church is only led youth and there are no parents..Capt Madisha told members of community that as the police they have talked to Nkhumishe that the church must stop its operation until they get relevant documents and they must no longer use God Cares Care Day Care Centre as their place of worship. He further said that they must stop with their services and they are going to consult with Moretele Magistrate court and legal advisors in order to solve the differences between community and the church. One parent called *Mpho Latla mother of *Tshep-iso (17) who is a member of Love of Christ alleges that her daughter never returned from the church and when she asked her friends they told her that they saw her daughter with the Prophet Nkhu-mishe after Tuesday evening service. Latla told Hammanskraal News that the problem started four months after *Tshepiso joined the church. ‘I was called by my family members after they were told by some of the congregation members that Nkhumishe have announced during the ser-vice that God gave him a wife who happens to be my daughter” she said. Hammanskraal News called Latla who told us her daughter returned on Thursday accompanied by some of the church members to Temba SAPS.Latla said that her father called Nkhumishe where was Tshepiso and he told them that they were at another church at Evaton attending the service. Hammanskraal News contacted the Prophet in question and Nkhumishe said that he is sorry as he is not interested before slamming the phone. *NOT THE REAL NAME

HAMMANSKRAAL CLASSIFIEDS

Sebushane Moobi

One of the largest bread bakeries in South Af-rica piloted a project- they called themselves the Hunger Satisfiers. The project started with two primary schools (Marokolong and Lebelo) respectively. The learners were to collect their product bread wrappers, write their names and classes on pieces of paper that was put inside the wrapper and taken back to their schools.

Blue Ribbon then came up to the schools on two respective days to make draws. In the draws, the main price was a bicycle as the first price whilst others were just vouchers of loafs of bread varying in quantities. With Blue Ribbon’s logo “It’s made for you” they ran the competition in a roadshow fashion. Mr. Mot-lhabane voiced that the company wanted to have schools and families to support their initiative. He stated that their product is healthy and according to the required standards and that their institution supplies bread throughout the country. It was also added that they had in mind to unravel talent in the young learners.Having said the above, Motlhabane added that they noted that some children, especially the orphaned and child headed sleep or go to school on empty

stomachs. He reasoned that it was imperative for Blue Ribbon to do something about the matter as an endeavor to alleviate poverty and feed the needy. From the sales department, Clinton Watson ad-vised the children to play safe as it was school holi-day time. He added that they should do the right things and be safe. Mr. J. Molekoa, an educator at Lebelo Primary urged parents to support educators in other promotions to come. Amazingly, the grand bicycle prize winners were girls from the two dif-ferent schools. Amogelang Molaodi (grade 3A) of Lebelo is amongst the winners. It was noted that the two winners could not pedal bicycles. Surely they would learn from their winnings. The hunger satisfiers (Blue Ribbon), gave each of the children a loaf of bread to take home and share with their families.
