The Grand Park Sports Campus is the cornerstone of our strategy to make Westfield
a premier destination for youth sports and families. The park continues to exceed
its attendance projections and its economic impact is benefitting many local
businesses.
Since 2018, Grand Park has served as the official home for Indianapolis Colts Training
Camp and is proud to continue doing so. As a city, we strive to always promote a spirit
of hospitality and provide the best training camp experience.
The 400-acre sports campus features a full range of championship-level outdoor
facilities for baseball, softball and field sports including soccer, football, field
hockey and lacrosse. The Grand Park Events Center, our indoor sports facility and
convention space, also allows us to accommodate year-round play and corporate
events. Future development around the campus will feature dining, retail and
entertainment venues geared toward supporting and enhancing the family sports
atmosphere.
Westfield has been named one of the “Top Ten Places to Raise a Family” by Family
Circle Magazine and has consistently been recognized as one of the best places to
live in Indiana and the country. We certainly agree!
While you’re in Westfield, I hope you will visit our downtown. You’ll find great
local restaurants, pubs and shops to fill your free time with a unique Westfield
experience. You can also enjoy our award-winning trails and parks system, too. If
you’d like to stay up-to-date on all things going on in Westfield, follow us on social
media and at westfieldwelcome.com!
Thank you again for visiting Grand Park and the Westfield community. We hope
you’ll be back often.
Sincerely,
Andy Cook
Mayor

of the Hoosier Sports Corporation and
most recently served as Director of
Sports Development for Hamilton County
Tourism and as Director of the Hamilton
County Sports Authority.
In addition, he is a board member of
numerous organizations, including the
Indy Eleven Soccer Association, Sports
Indiana and Mudsock Youth Athletics.
Appointed director of Grand Park in
2016, William Knox brings an extensive
sports background to position. His
father, Bill Knox was a defensive
back for the Chicago Bears. A game-
used football on William’s desk
commemorates the day he was born – a
gift from his dad.
“Working at Grand Park is as close to
my dream job as I’ve ever had thus far,”
said William. “This position allows me to
combine many areas I love – with two
of my biggest passions being sports and
business.”
William grew up in Gary, Indiana,
where he lettered in four sports in
high school: football, track, golf and
wrestling. Knox earned a Bachelor of

World-class sport facilities aren’t the only thing
that makes Grand Park impressive. Safety tops
the list of Grand Park’s core values, and staff
members make every effort to ensure the well-
being of all athletes and visitors.
Park officials work closely with Westfield Police
and Fire on a daily basis to make sure they are
prepared and ready for any emergency. Public
safety personnel are onsite during large events
with others ready to respond nearby.
Grand Park also maintains 14 AEDs throughout
the park to be equipped for a cardiac emergency
and provides training in CPR and the use of AEDs
to all park employees and support staff.
“As a premier destination for youth sports, we
place safety at the forefront,” said Westfield
Mayor Andy Cook. “The investment in onsite
AEDs and the continued training of our staff and
partner organizations further reinforces that
commitment.”
Athletes and visitors to the park also have
access to some of the best sports medicine care
available. Methodist Sports Medicine, Grand
Park’s official sports medicine provider, operates
a 2,500 square foot clinic in the Events Center.
The facility is staffed by athletic trainers, physical
therapists, a chiropractor and an orthopedic
doctor. Methodist Sports Medicine also provides
medical staff for all onsite sporting events.
FOCUS ON SAFETY
38
WEATHER PROTOCOL
One of the top priorities for the Grand Park Sports Campus is Safety. Driven by this priority, we
have gone to great lengths to seek the most accurate and preventative weather alert system in the
country – which has led us to Thor Guard.
Thor Guard is an automated weather alert system that monitors incoming threats based on the
electricity level in the air. It is used by some of the top universities, stadiums and sports complexes
in the country.
Thor Guard connects to our existing weather alert system (i.e., campus sirens and lights) and is
automatically activated when Thor Guard confirms we have reached a Red Alert. When the weather
alert system is activated, it is mandatory that ALL VISITORS seek shelter in their vehicles or off-site.
Alert Levels for Reference:
• All Clear – Area is safe.
• Caution – Be alert, the atmosphere may be in flux.
• Warning – The energy is changing in the atmosphere, but it may be passing by.
• Red Alert – Safety is compromised.
While the technology behind Thor Guard is impressive, it is only impactful with the participation
of our visitors. THANK YOU in advance for heeding the alert system and making Safety your top
priority, too.
