Halong Bay is a beautiful natural wonder in northern Vietnam near the Chinese border. The Bay
is dotted with 1,600 limestone islands and islets and covers an area of over 1,500 sqkm. This
extraordinary area was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. For many tourists, this
place is like something right out of a movie.
Hoa Binh
Hoa Binh means ‘peace’ and this easygoing town
is a relief after the traffic-plagued suburbs of Hanoi.
The area is home to many hill-tribe people,
including the Hmong and Thai.
Hoa Binh was the site of a major battle with the
French in 1951 & 1952 and is home to the Muong
ethnic group.
The Hoa Binh Dam at the Black River is the largest hydroelectric dam in Vietnam and Southeast Asia.
Ba Vi National Park
It is one of Vietnam’s most famous areas of outstanding
natural beauty, and is centered around a three-peaked
mountain jutting steeply out of the landscape. The national
park offers a great escape from the city with cool fresh
mountain air in a mystical atmospheric backdrop of clouds,
jungle and tropical rainforest. There is also a spa resort
nestled at the foot of the mountain offering a host of natural
therapies in an absolutely stunning setting.
Duong Lam Ancient Village
Duong Lam Ancient Village has retained the basic
characteristics of Vietnamese ancient villages
with banyan tree, well and communal house's
court.
A visit to Duong Lam Village is the journey to the
origins of culture and traditions of Vietnam. This
is also an opportunity for tourists to admire the
unique architectural features of the ancient houses,
and visit the temples of two kings born from
Duong Lam Ancient Village.
Yen Duc Village
The beautiful village ideally locates on the way between Hanoi
and Halong Bay and developed as a community based tourism
project, a glimpse of village life & authentic cultural
experience.
Non La
The ‘non la’ are handmade with palm leaves and bamboo.
There is no machinery available to create this work of art. Their
origin dates approximately 3,000 years back.
Thay and Tay Phuong Pagodas
One of the cradles of Vietnamese Buddhism and folkloric tales of Vietnam’s rural life using water puppets; the
Thay Pagoda is a fine example that embraces the traditional side with ample opportunities to explore just for half
a day from Hanoi.
A picturesque pond in front of the pagoda brings peace and tranquility into the scene and serves as a natural venue
for water puppet shows during festivals.
The Red River is a river that flows from Yunnan in Southwest China through northern Vietnam to the Gulf of
Tonkin. According to C. Michael Hogan, the associated Red River Fault was instrumental in forming the entire
South China Sea at least as early as 37 million years before present.
