Halloween Safety
2011
Orange and Black DayMonday, October 31st
• Clothing and hats• Nail polish, hair color and lipstick• No costumes, wigs, masks• No sprays, shaving cream, funny
string• No dangerous or disruptive items
Halloween Night
• Create a plan– Communicate with your
parents/guardians • have a set time when you will be home
– Travel with your friends – Plan where you are going– Avoid large groups and strangers– Do not go into anyone’s house
Tricks or Treats
• Have your parents carefully inspect any goodies collected during Halloween.
• Be careful of any temporary tattoos handed out.
• Do not eat candy– Out of it’s original wrapper– If the wrapper is old and faded– If there is a hole or tear in the wrapper
Traffic Safety
It gets dark earlyWear light colored clothes
Carry a flashlightWalk on the sidewalk
Avoid Sunrise Highway & Montauk Highway
Stay Focused
• The school year has just begun• Concentrate on:
– Class work– Homework– High test scores– Positive peer relations– Positive teacher relations
