farming) will offer for sale by public auction.
FOR SALE BY PUBLIC AUCTIONOn Friday 16th September 2016
Commencing at 10.30am sharp
AUCTIONEER’S REMARKSMr. Gilbert Farmer farmed Hall Farm in partnership with his mother from 1960‐1987 and latterly on his own.
Previous to this his grandmother farmed Hall Farm until 4th June 1936 when she held a dispersal sale when
she relinquished the tenancy and Gilbert’s father took on the reins. Gilbert’s grandparents came from Temple
Balsall in the mid 1870’s and farmed Hall Farm as a traditional, small 80 acre mixed Warwickshire farm, taking
milk and mushrooms gleaned from the farm to Claverdon Station, meeting the early morning train to
Birmingham, as did large numbers of other small family farms in this part of Warwickshire.
More recently sheep and cattle have been run on the farm, with store cattle in particular topping the market
when sold. The decision has been to dispose of all the farm machinery and implements, together with livestock
equipment, from this small farm, which includes a large quantity of vintage and antique equipment of particular
interest to collectors and enthusiasts. In addition, Mr. Gilbert Farmer has been an enthusiastic and talented
wood worker and, therefore, a considerable quantity of woodworking machinery, tools and timber is being
offered for sale, together with surplus household furniture and effects, all being sold without VAT. The
auctioneers commend purchasers to this genuine farm dispersal sale, which also comprises a number of items
included by kind permission from neighbouring farmers, due to their own changing farm policy/retirement.
