Half yearly News Letter of the Society of Indian Marine Artists Edorial Dear Friends, As a new year has arrived with new beginnings, fresh starts, I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new year and hope your year ahead is filled with the promises of a brighter future. It is the time to reflect upon the hitches as well as achievements accomplished in the year gone by. The last year marked many life-changing events in the life of Indian citizens. One such major conjuncture/ development was demonetization of India’s two highest denomination currency bills- Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 from 8 Nov. 2016. Time only will judge , was that a revolutionary and future-centric measure or decision with good intent and no planning . As the Indian economy took a halt for a short time last year, the last few months of SIMA were rather low-pitched in its activities. However, one of the major event of SIMA, to create awareness of marine life, we conduct Junior SIMA Annual Drawing Competition for children at the lush green venue of Empress Garden every year. The write-up by Mrs. Jayanti Shetty about this year’s competition is included in this newsletter. In addition, the individual shows initiated by some of the talented SIMA members are mentioned and appreciated here. As we move ahead in the New Year, we look forward to more active participation in the upcoming activities in SIMA. I take this opportunity to appeal all the SIMA members to renew their membership, make efforts to enroll more members and come together often to engage more activities to encourage the talent. Till then wish you all the very best. Shailesh Sonawane Sucheta Shinde Editor. Assistant Editor. EditorialDear Friends,

As a new year has arrived with new beginnings, fresh starts, I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy new year and hope your year ahead is filled with the promises of a brighter future. It is the time to reflect upon the hitches as well as achievements accomplished in the year gone by. The last year marked many life-changing events in the life of Indian citizens. Time only will judge , was that a revolutionary and future-centric measure or decision with good intent and no planning .

As the Indian economy took a halt for a short time last year, the last few months of SIMA were rather low-pitched in its activities. However, one of the major event of SIMA, to create awareness of marine life, we conduct Junior SIMA

Annual Drawing Competition for children at the lush green venue of Empress Garden every year. The write-up by Mrs. Jayanti Shetty about this year’s competition is included in this newsletter. In addition, the individual shows initiated by some of the talented SIMA members are mentioned and appreciated here.
