We sing because Music is a language that can speak to each of us when we share a song together, so once again we, our Halcyon Parks 'Treble Clef' Ladies and 'Semi-Quaver' Gentleman Singers, invite you to come and join with us, when we resume rehearsals for our 2022 mid-year Concert planned for Saturday 2 July, 2022, to commence at 2:00pm (depending on the COVID situation at that time of course)!! Another difficult week for our home owners, I have said it many times but please continue to look out for one another during these uncertain and difficult times.

COVID-19 REMINDERSAs a reminder and with the ever increasing number of COVID-19 cases on the Sunshine Coast including several reported positive cases within some of our communities as well as staff members, our aim is to protect all parties so would like to remind you that the decision was made to temporarily limit face-to-face communication between home owners and Halcyon community management staff until further notice.  Unless it is an emergency, we request that you either email or phone us in preference to attending the community office.  Remember to wear your face mask when indoors within the community facilities and outside where you are not able to socially distance. Please continue to practice good hand and sneeze/cough hygiene and keeping your distance from others to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating, and aftergoing to the toilet

Cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and wash your hands If unwell, avoid contact with others and self-isolate at home Exercise personal responsibility for social distancing measures.

Thank you for your understanding and community support during these extraordinary

circumstances.

Why not consider hosting one of our popular Music I Love and a Movie afternoons this year. All you need to do is come up with a program of about 45 minutes’ worth of video clips of your music, select a feel-good movie, and away you go. We have 3 program dates to choose from this year- Sunday 27 March, Sunday 26 May, & Sunday 25 September. Go ahead, the choice is yours. Rob Davis would be pleased to hear from you, especially if you’re a new resident. Make his new year for him and give him a ring on 7105. He’d be so excited to hear from you. And in return, at each Sunday’s program this year he’ll strive for perfection, technically speaking.

FROM THE COMMUNITY MANAGERA few reminders this week:VISITORS AND FACILITIESPlease remember that all visitors must be accompanied by a home owner when using any of our facilities, this is not limited to the home owner they are visiting however. Visitor Lanyards must also be visable while Visitors are walking through the community unattended.DOGS OWNERSPlease be advised that the bins located near the Green thumbs Garden shed are not for the disposal of dog waste, so we would ask that you take the watse home and dispose of it there please. Also please do not allow your dogs to roam in the Green Thumbs Garden area, this is for food production and consumtpion and not suitable for domesticated animals.

It is also important that home owners have control of their dogs at all times even when off leash – the image below is a great illustration of what not to do, but it is also important to remember that not all humans like dogs either so their rushed apporach cancause fear and or injury and we would hate to see any of this happen.

Happy and healthy New Year to all.

Tai Chi will recommence at 8:30am on 12th January 2022 at the Rec Rooms. All welcome. Don’t forget masks.

Any queries ring Ann on 7127.

THIS LITTLE PIG …..After several years, our HOG has welcomed a new addition to the Halcyon Parks’ swine family of Interest Groups! Not to be confused with BIG (the Bowls Interest Group), fittingly the new one has been named PIG- the Player’s Interest Group. The PIG will represent not only actors and people interested in stage production, but also Friends of the Players whose main purpose will be to happily grunt & snort around in the background in support of PIG-related activities. So, if life in a Pigsty tickles your fancy, come along on Wednesday 9th February @ 7:00pm (Covid Rules permitting) and find out more about joining the PIG as an actor or a Friend. You’ll hear about the PIG’s plans for 2022 in the relaxed atmosphere of the Rec Club. You never know, perhaps Anna/Ian might obtain a bar-licence to allow a drink at the trough. You can squeal with delight as you wet this new baby’s head. More details posted soon.

STAYING CONNECTED As the Nation tries to come to terms with the reescalation of COVID-19 it is important that we remain supportive of one another and always be kind. These trying times can bring out both the best and worse in people, but as a community we have always managed to rise above and come through stronger and more connected than ever – I hope this time will be no different. So, metaphorically speaking, my door is always open – if you need anything – a chat, a rant or someone to organise some groceries etc please reach out, I would encourage you all to do the same, to reach out to others and stay connected. We WILL get through this.

FROM THE BAR

For the enjoyment of those who love a refreshing and thirst quenching summer drink we have introduced a new line to The Bar. Now selling is “Bombay Sapphire Gin and Tonic” premixed in bottles at $4.50 each.

Why not try one during this festive season. 🎄🎄🎄

Have you tried our new beer line?

Great northern “super crisp” mid strength 3.5 beer.  It’s been available at The Bar for around a month now and has proven to be quite popular. Go on, give it a try.

On another note,  I would like to give  thanks to a couple of people who have stepped up and taken care of The Bar while Lawrie and I were on an extended holiday traveling around the northern part of OZ in our caravan.  Thank you Ian Connell for stepping into the role and also a big thank you to Claire Crowell (2IC) for supportingIan. Both are continuing to assist me while our family is on a different journey. Their kindness and thoughtfulness is beyond imagination and is so very much appreciated.

Thank you to our wonderful bar volunteers for their endless help serving our residents and community, and also stepping in and assisting when necessary with extra functions when needed.

The Christmas celebration festive season can mean different things to different people, be kind and considerate to others, a simple smile can mean so much to someone.  So here’s wishing you health and happiness and a very merry Christmas to you all from Anna Little, Ian Connell, Claire Crowell and our dedicated bar 🎄🎄

HalcyOnline, Friday 10 December 2021

Happy 3rd last Friday before Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay hydrated.FROM THE COMMITTEEWe advise that the Home Owner Social Group holds the Restricted Liquor Permit (RLP) forthe sale of alcohol at Halcyon Parks. With the proposed COVID restrictions for hospitality venues (including bars) to take effect from 5:00am on 17 December 2021, we understand we will be required to follow certain protocols for the licensed premises at Parks when the bar is trading. The volunteer bar staff will need to be fully vaccinated and additionally, only fully vaccinated home owners will be able to be present within the Rec Club whilst the bar is trading. For ease during Happy Hours and events, the Home Owner Social Group ask that should any home owner wish to volunteer their vaccination information in advance, we would behappy to collate a list of vaccinated home owners in order to reduce any angst, possible conflict and hold-ups while being served at the bar or attending an event. We thank you for your ongoing co-operation and understanding while we navigate the changing COVID restrictions placed upon us by the QLD Government.FROM THE COMMUNITY MANAGERA message from Management with regards to use of the community kitchen/Rec Club from 17 Dec 2021:As you are no doubt aware, on Friday 17 December 2021 (when at least 80% of Queensland’s population over 16 years of age will be double vaccinated for COVID-19), we understand there will be restrictions placed on hospitality venues as well as unvaccinated people attending these venues.  Halcyon has sought clarification from the Regulatory Services Unit of the Dpt of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy regarding how the proposed COVID restrictions would apply to manufactured home parks and our community facilities.  We are awaiting their response.  We wish to advise that the Food Licence Certificate at Halcyon Parks has a category of “Eating Establishment”. This is the same category given to a restaurant or café. The FoodLicence Certificate applies to the service and sale of onsite prepared meals within the community kitchen/Rec Club.Until we have a formal response from the Regulatory Services Unit, it is reasonable for Halcyon as a condition in using our Licence at Halcyon Parks, to expect that the Home Owner Social Group abides by the COVID restrictions in place for hospitality venues whenusing the community kitchen and Rec Club for catered functions and events (involving the sale of food/meals).  As such, we expect home owners and their guests will be required to show their vaccination status in order to attend such an event. Please note that non-compliance of the COVID restrictions could hinder the ability for Halcyon to offer the use of the Food Licence to the community or result in revocation of

the Food Licence altogether.Remember, we’re all in this together.FROM THE CARETAKERThe recent and ongoing storms have wreaked havoc on our wetland walking track making the surface uneven in some areas. We ask that all home owners take extra care and caution when using the walking track, unfortunately like a lot of things, we will be unable to carry out works around this area until it dries out a bit and we get a break in the weather. GREEN THUMBSGreen Thumbs Harvest for Friday 10 December is as follows: Silver Beet, Beans, SpringOnions, Squash, Lettuce, Pumpkin, Cucumber, Bok Choi, and Capsicum.FINAL REMINDER FOR OUR HALCYON PARKS 'CAROLS IN THE REC CLUB’With just a matter of days remaining before our 'Carols'  night in the Rec Club, on Wednesday, 15th December, 2021, just  a quick reminder for you not to forget to bring a few nibbles to crunch on, as we sing together some of our age-old Christmas Carols next Wednesday evening.   The Bar will be open for you to buy a drink if you wish. Please arrive around 6:30p.m for our starting time of 7:00 p.m.     Our Halcyon Parks 'Treble Clefs' and 'Semi-Quaver' Singers are all looking forward to sharing a very pleasant evening of song, with all of us who love to celebrate Christmas inthe old fashioned way, with Christmas Carols.Bev.
