BEFORE YOU START•Make sure you have a SWITCHED, FULL DUPLEX ethernet connection (critical, so make sure) This means you are not sharing a “hub” either in your office or down the hall in the wiring closet and that data can go in both directions at the same time.

•PC should have Intel Pentium III, 800 MHz, 256 MB RAM (NOT AMD processor)

•PC must be running Windows 98 or 2000 (NT doesn’t support USB)

•If you are using NT, call me… there is an internal card that can be used… the VCON Escort 25. However, two processor systems are not compatible.

•Do the complete software installation BEFORE you plug the VIGO into the PC for the first time

•Go through this PowerPoint presentation completely before you open the box (you may need to exchange it for a different model)

Put your own name and organization in these fields

Take the default values and click next

Be patient while the software is installed


Restart your computer and then plug the USB cord from the VIGO into the USB port on the computer.Then turn on the power switch on the VIGOand you will see the USB being recognized as VCONVIGO.



Put the name you will want to usefor all your logins from this orany other VIGO machine in thisbox.

Put MXM in this box as password

Put 128.143.18.89 in this box

Click next.This info will be available to others who have access to our shared Address Book. Accuracy here simplifies future attempts to link-up.Complete, then click next.



The camera bundled with the ViGO package does not have Pan/Tilt/Zoom, so select None and click next. If you are using a different model, you might need to select it from the pick-list.

Your User Name should be the same as your MXM login name. The User Number will be automatically assigned and is the number people will “dial” to talk with you. The Gatekeeper Address is the same as the MXM address.


This is just a confirmatory screen,so review it for accuracy and click on Finish.

OK! If you see yourself, your VIGO is installed correctly. Now, continue to finish setting up and make a call to me.


Hal, this is a great page that makes it real. Can you insert a couple more slides that highlight the Dialer function? People ought to be savvy enough to work through most of the toolbar options, but dialing requires knowing the UVA IP and things like that.

If you have trouble with microphone or speakers, it is probably curable here

Keep Automatic Gain Control off


Click on Calls

Select the Incoming Calls tab

Make sure that Auto answer is checked or your VIGO won’t respond to calls


Click on telephone icon to bring up address book.


Click on Manual Dialer, then on LAN Dialer


Type User Number of person to be called in the entry box

Click on Options

Set the bandwidth for the call in the lower entry box. Note: 384 is good, 768 is better.

Finally, Click Dial to make call!

Double click on “online directory” to access automatically updated MXM directory. Press function key “F5” to refresh this information and get the latest status of network participants.

Endpoints that are “on” and ready to receive a call have a green globe. If there is a telephone next to the globe, that person is already in a call. Double click the icon to make the call.
