Advantages of FUE over Strip Surgery

Hair Transplant is the only permanent method of hair restoration in which one’s own hair from the back and sides of the head are extracted and implanted on front in the bald area.

For many people, a hair transplant can help bring back what looks like a full - or at least a fuller head of hair.

Strip Surgery (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) are the two techniques of Hair Transplanta-tion.

In Strip Surgery, a whole strip of hair bearing skin is removed and defect sutured back. In FUE, individual follicles are extracted.

FUE can be done in all cases. It is most useful for people who keep their hair small or shave their head or have tendency of hypertrophic scars because they will not have any visible scars (as they are microscopic). This is the only method by which adequate cover can be given for Narwood Gr VI-VII as the hair can be extracted from the head as well as the body in multiple sittings.

One can’t keep these hair short after strip surgery.It leads to scar at the donor site.It is not suitable for eyebrow or mous-tache.

The ProcedureThe procedure is done under LA (local anaesthesia) so there is no pain.Follicular units are extracted from the back of the scalp called as donor area.Each “Follicular Unit” tiny grafts consists of 1 to 4 hairs.Slits are made on the recipient area that is the area of balding scalp.Now these follicular units are implanted into the recipient sites.Post procedure the patient is fit to go home the same day and restart his duties from next day onwards.the transplanted hairs normally falls out within first 3-4 weeks. New hair follicle start growing approximately from 3rd month onwards.Generally, it takes 12 to 18 months to see fuller and denser transplanted hair.

Who can undergo Hair Transplant?

Does it hurt?No, the surgery is done under local anesthesia. It is painless and comfortable.

How long does a hair transplantation procedure take?The procedure usually takes 6 to 10 hours, depending on the number of grafts transplanted.

What about the healing period, should I take leave from work?Healing is very fast in FUE, and you will be active immediately post the surgery.

When can one see final results?Results starts appearing after 3-4 months, but best results will be seen in 12-18 months.
