Domestic Air ConditionerBasics
• Air conditioning is the process whereby the condition of air, its temperature and moisture content, is changed.
• Comfort is subjective, however most people (90%), are comfortable when the air temperature is between 18-22°C and the humidity is between 40-65%.
• This known as the comfort zone or zone of human comfort
Temperature Comfort
Understand your location
• Good air circulation is imperative to good unit performance and energy efficiency
• Correct Outdoor unit air clearances improve performance and reduce noise
• Units need to be mounted where they can be accessed for service
• Correct wall brackets for the unit size need to fitted or ventilation and safety can be compromised

Minimum Requirements
R32 Refrigerant
Now used in Flexis Models, R32 has similar working pressure to R410A around 12-26 Bar (174-377 Psi)
R32 has better capability to exchange heat-load than R410A , it produces a higher capacity than R410A therefore is more efficient.
Due to these efficiencies,R32 use 30% less refrigerant charge to produce an equal load capacity.
Flexis Installation
Modern type of flaring tool
• Flare joint must be made using the
correct tooling
• Modern flaring kit allows the flare ring to
be formed at a set “torque”
• The tightness is pre-set & does not over
stress the pipe work
• Be careful to remove the burrs by using a
deburring tool from the edges of the
pipes before flaring
Installation
Deburring Tool
• Flare joint tightened with a torque spanner
• Avoid over stressing the joint( double spanner)
Avoid stress
Installation
Correct torque must be applied

Does your company have the following equipment in each Service Vehicle?
Electronic Hand-held leak detectorthat detects a wide range of refrigerants, such as CFC, HFC,HCFC and HFO refrigerants 1234yf and R32.
It is most important that Oxygen Free Nitrogen (OFN) is
continually purged through the pipework when welding
• Purged = 3-5psig above atmospheric pressure
During brazing process, the inside of the copper
produces “Carbon deposits”
Installation
• Pressure test with nitrogen to establish basic system seal
• Release pressure and connect vacuum pump
• System must hold a vacuum to at least 500 microns (equivalent to
99.9% vacuum)
• Always use a quality vacuum pump
• Check and change oil on a regular basis
• Check vacuum with Torr gauge or vacustat positioned as far from
vacuum pump as possible
Installation
Before Putting system into service the unit must undergo the following tests
Strength test
Leakage test
note: only use dry nitrogen
3.0 Bar - Minimum 3 min
15.0 Bar - Minimum 3 min
32.0 Bar - Minimum 3 min
41.5 Bar - Strength test for a period of time acceptable to show any signs of deformation of pipe work
33.0 Bar - Minimum 5 minutes

Technical Service Hints
F Series Indoor PCB ServiceAccess to PCB without removing outer cover of outdoor unit.Earth terminal screw on indoor coil.
Technical Install Hints
• The indoor unit is shipped from the factory with a small nitrogen
charge in it. The pressure will release when the transport caps
are removed from the flare connections.
• Both of the brass flare nuts for the indoor connections are in the
same packaging as the remote control.
• Remove the foam stripes around the blower wheel before
starting 5.3kW & 7.1kW indoor units.
• Follow the electrical connection labels. Haier terminal blocks are
labelled 1 Neutral, 2 Line, 3 Comms, and 4 Earth. You may be used to
seeing Line, Neutral, Comms, and Earth.
Technical Install Hints
• Flexis series the hole is already drilled out.
• Rubber feet for condensor are in packaging under
condenser.
• All models are DRED enabled. Connection cable is a
data cable with RJ45 connector and is accessible at
condensor terminal blocks.
Technical Install Hints
• All Flexis indoor PCBs are the same part number
for that series of product. The units capacity is set
via the Dip Switches
• F Series H0011800593B.
• SW2 on the PCB needs to be set to the correct
indoor capacity when changing from original part.
• First indication they are incorrectly set may be
reverse operation of the louvre or you may get a
communications fault (E7)

Demand Response Control
DEMAND RESPONSE CONTROL (DRC)
For models fitted with Demand Response Control
Demand response Control provides a method by which a controlling authority, most likely a power supply company, can limit the amount of power that an air conditioner can consume in comparison to its nominal full load power consumption. The aim is to reduce overall power consumption to the supply network at critical peak load times. A command is passed down the power supply which triggers a response. Not dissimilar to what some power companies do when controlling peak demand for electric water heaters in some countries.
DRC is capable of demanding three different levels of response from the air conditioner, identified as DRM1, DRM2 and DRM3.DRM1 which is 'compressor off' is the minimum required to meet the Australian New Zealand standard AS4755.3.1.DRM2 must not exceed 50% of Capacity kWDRM3 must not exceed 75% of Capacity kW
If DRC is being used by your power supplier your product will show one of the three responses in the LED display as follows
d1: Indicates that your supplier has switched off your unit due to high power demand on the local net workd2: Indicates that your supplier has reduced the capacity of your unit to 50% due to high power demand on the local net workd3: Indicates that your supplier has reduced the capacity of your product to 75% due to high power demand on the local net work
Important please note if any one of the LED indicators shown above are displayed on your products LED display DO NOT call Haier Customer Service until you have checked with your power supplier to confirm if they have activated their DRC device.
DREDS device is connected to the RJ485 plug to control
If after conferring with your power supplier you believe your product requires service please call Haier Customer Service on New Zealand 0800 424 372

Self-clean
41
With regular use of self-clean technology, there is minimal need to clean the AC evaporator
Time saved on Cleaning
Self-clean
42
Self Clean (evaporator self-cleaning) is applicable for both NSV/NFV Series inverter models
Conclusion: Self Clean is the patent technology for Haier which can clean the evaporator.
This function can help end-user to save the cleaning cost with 99.9% anti-bacteria rate.
Pains of end-user
If cleaning .
If not cleaning .
It takes twice cleaning a year and cost
Major benefits to end-user
1) saving the cleaning fee
Bacterial, virus will spread into the airflow .
For reference: The cooling performance will reduce approximately by 10%~15% because of dirty evaporator .
3) Cooling performance not affected by dirty evaporator 2) Healthy air, 99.9% anti-bacteria rate
After periodic use, dust will be accumulated on the surface of evaporator, which is easily breeding bacteria and virus.
43
Self-clean
Press the Self Clean Button on remote controller
CL (short for clean) will display on the front panel
The evaporator will freeze After time the unit will cause ice to melt and wash away dirt covered on the surface of the evaporator
Whole process 21 Minutes
Self Clean Process
Bacteria killing at the same time
Nano silver anti-virus material on the surface of aluminum can effectively kill 99.9% bacteria and virus at the same time
Recommended Frequency
Recommend to use Self Clean once a week to keep evaporator clean
Note: During the Self Clean process, the unit stops cooling performance and the customer will not feel cold air blowing from the system.
