June is a busy month, something for everyone. The Saturday Markets swap meets are every Saturday during June, 11a-7p at City Park.

Hagerman Public Library will hold Summer Read-ing June 8th, 15th and 22nd at the Hagerman City Park. Food, fun, games and books.

Hagerman Clean Up Days will be June 15th and 16th. Dumpsters will be at the City Shop on Lagoon Rd directly behind the Snake River Grill from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Turn left and go to the end of the road. If you need help with hauling your refuse, a sign-up list will be at City Hall. Call 208-837-6636.If anyone would like to volunteer with the hauling please contact Mayor Pete 208-280-0944. Please no tires, paint, chemicals or appliances. These items can be discarded at Wendell. Batteries and scrap metal accepted.

A big THANK YOU to the Hagerman Fire District for hosting the May vet clinic at the fire station. The clinic was held for all in need to get their dog's their shots, especially the ra-bies, at a reduced cost. There was a good turn out. Another clinic will be held in August.

! ! ! FIREWORKS ! ! ! June 29th. Come join the fun and enjoy the day. All of the festivities will be at Hagerman City Park. There will be vendors, crafts, music and more. Fireworks will be set off at approximately 10 p.m.

As you head south out of town, take a look to your right and you can see the new lagoon is currently being filled at the Wastewater Facility expansion project. Water from the Buck-eye Ditch is filling the lagoon. That will take several weeks. Then seepage tests will be con-ducted by several agencies, including the EPA and DEQ. On Valley Road West the new Lift Station project is also proceeding well. And to the neighbors on Valley West, thank you

for your patience as this project proceeds.

NATIONAL PARK SERVICE Summer programs will start in June and be offered on Saturdays and Sundays though the end of August. Jay and Catherine are working on their ideas it will be a mix of old and new hands-on activities. We hope to have a schedule posted so you can pick and choose. One thing we have already determined is that Saturday, June 16, 2018 will include a night sky Star Party by the Magic Valley Astronomical Society and the College of Southern Idaho's Centennial Observatory folks. They will bring their big telescopes but you are welcome to bring whatever you have as well. Maybe you have a telescope you aren't sure how to use? They can help. We'll be doing solar activities during the day, a night sky orientation

talk in the visitor center at 8:30 pm, then heading up to the Oregon Trail Overlook on Bells Rapids Road to get away from the lights and see the sky from 10pm until we're drag-ging. It's all free, join us!

RONALD JOHN ASCUENA, 69

Feb 2, 1949 to May 19, 2018

Except for a short time when the family lived in Halfway, Oregon, Ron grew up in Hagerman. He played football, bas-ketball, and ran track. After graduating in 1967, he attended Idaho State University and CSI. He graduated with a degree

in P.E. and began teaching in 1979. Later he became the P.E. and Health Department Chair and coached many sports, but track and cross-country were his loves. Over the years, Hager-man remained a gathering place for Ron and his siblings. Sitting in the shade of their mom’s backyard recounting stories that grew funnier with each telling were some of Ron’s best days. He particularly loved the story about the time he bought an old Cadillac hearse and drove it in the July 24th parade. Ron’s life will be celebrated at Cathedral of the Rockies on June 2, 2018, 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Idaho Alzheimer’s Society. Memories and condolences may be shared with Ron’s family on his memorial webpage at www.summersfuneral.com.
