For customers who require distance replication for disaster recovery and data distribution, EMC and

QLogic have proven, easy-to-use, and affordable solutions. These solutions provide storage and pro-

tection for critical data such as Microsoft SQL Server and Exchange, Oracle, VMware®, or file system

data. EMC and its partner, QLogic, provide turnkey solutions to protect data in your environment,

whether that environment is basic or advanced, as well as local or remote.

Together, EMC CLARiiON AX4 and QLogic provide users the flexibility of protecting data across a data

center, across town, or across an ocean. The AX4 is a highly available solution with dual storage

possessors as well as a capacity of up to 60 SAS and SATA drives.

Advanced protection for open environments (FC host connections)Many customers purchase EMC CLARiiON AX4 arrays because they want the same level of availability

and capability that users find in the CLARiiON CX series of products. The AX4 supports many of

the array-based applications and features available on the CX line. The AX4 includes Navisphere®

Express management software with integrated snapshot capability. Moreover, the AX4 provides an

upgrade path to full capability Navisphere management and replication and protection products,

making both EMC SnapView™ and MirrorView™ local and remote (respectively) data replication solu-

tions available and ideally suited for open systems environments connected to a Fibre Channel SAN.

Customers who are running a high-performance, dedicated FC environment often want the capabil-

ity to protect to a remote site in a cost-effective manner. EMC partnered with QLogic to design and

qualify the QLogic iSR6142-E router. The iSR6142-E simplifies remote replication deployments to

allow easy connection of two FC SANs (Brocade, Cisco, or QLogic) over your existing WAN connection.

The affordable QLogic iSR6142-E, offered through EMC Select, also includes QLogic’s patented

SmartWrite™ technology to optimize the WAN connection and make the link more reliable, key for

disaster recovery.

The combined solution of the CLARiiON AX4 Fibre Channel array, EMC MirrorView software, and

QLogic iSR6142-E provides:

RepliStor®, a host-based data protection and replication product. RepliStor does not require propri-

etary hardware and works in physical or virtual Windows guest OS environments. Replistor ensures

that if a failure occurs at the primary site, users can continue operations at their remote site with the

realtime replica or a VSS snapshot for multiple recovery options. For high availability for SQL Server

or Exchange data, use RepliStor wizards to easily configure automatic failover to a remote site in the

event of a server failure.
