Entity Profile (Please describe the organisation activities relevant with the topic selected)

ASSAM activities cover several fields to support the sustainable and competitive growth of the agro-food enterprises: energy efficiency promotion, forestry, biodiversity, truffle/olive/fruit farming and production, traceability system. The Agency offers a range of services from training paths to update/create competences on traditional (olive production, truffles production, fruit farming) and innovative sectors (e.g social agriculture, animal welfare…) to agriculture weather forecasts for farmers, laboratories analysis, traceability system, quality certification, plant disease control towards producers and consumers. Thanks to the technical competences and the growing experience in managing projects (LIFE+, INTERREGIVC, IPA CBC), ASSAM built up a transnational network of operational and institutional partners to design and implement EU projects in the agro-food sector, facing, in the meantime, the main EU challenges. Climate changes, energy efficiency, training and competences updating, innovation are some of the EU challenges which the agro-food sector should tackles to improve its efficiency and competitiveness. In this framework, ASSAM plays a complementary and operational role to concretely achieve the regional and EU programmes’ goals.

Entity Profile (Please describe the organisation activities relevant with the topic selected)

By means of biotechnologies, ATPr&d aims to retrain the potential of natural

resources, re-evaluating raw materials and by-products from different value

chains. Thanks to biotechnology applications, traditional matrices can be

transformed into bioactive molecules or innovative substrates for agri-food

needs.

Expertise offered

The valorization of by-products is a key objective for ATPr&d in order to

reduce the use of new resources and follow the eco-sustainability principles.

Properly processed and treated by-products can act as raw material to

produce high value materials as functional ingredients, alternative proteins,

and bioactive molecules. We are interested in fermentation processes,

enzimatic threatments and use of insects in food and feed application.

We propose to schools to implement vertical fields for growing food and to

give the students a practical innovative and interesting workshop on

environmental issues, healthy nutrition, leadership, entrepreneurship and a

lot more.

Our proposal is based on our collaboration with the Israeli company Vertical

field Ltd an expert for vertical gardening which developed a unique

technology and is responsible for for more than 200 evergreens, large-scale,

sustainable projects all over the world.

The educational program is "taylor made" adapted to the age of participants

and school vision. On May 2018, Grow High finished its pilot in a high school

in Carate Brianza near Monza, Italy. A 30 hours workshop was given to 50

students in the 10th grade and in the end we did Pasta al Pesto with the

fresh, organic, 0km, tasty basil!

Expertise offered

Suggesting to establish a large-scale Agro Vertical Field in the center of a

large city cultivating food, thus offer a model for complementary urban

agriculture that is supported by the community and constitutes a social,

educational and environmental model and even an employment model for

young entrepreneurs.

Entity Profile (Please describe the organisation activities relevant with the topic selected)

We already protect biodiversity of our landscape: we grow our raw materials

on particularly fertile and quality soils, whose conformation is naturally

suitable for the organic cultivation, avoiding soil degradation.

Our activity is strictly related to our region and all our products are made of

local raw materials and we work with a short distribution chain, to enanche

territory.

Our products are organic and safe, we avoid using any herbicide or other

harmful to health substances. We're going to implement the reuse of

agricultural waste and the enrichment of the soil with the self-produced

organic substance, according to the principles of circular economy.

We are always looking for new possibilities of innovation for the respect of

the environment. For example in the project for our new plant we're going to

produce solar energy and re-use it in the production process, avoiding

pollution and waste of energy.

So we desire being involved in a project for the defense of biodiversity

making available all our activities and know how.
