Some of the greatest men of the Bible sinned, with a single exception… Abraham – Genesis 12:10-19 Noah – Genesis 9:20-21 Moses – Numbers 20:7-12 Peter – Mark14:66-72

IT SHOULD PRODUCE MEEKNESS AND HUMILITY

Why does it take people to get caught in sin, before they’ll accept their condition? – Psalms 51:17

A Christian should never become complacent or self-satisfied, he should pray and confess his sins everyday.

IT SHOULD HELP US TO SEE SIN EQUALLY, IN OURSELVES AND OTHERS

It’s human nature to condone in ourselves what we condemn in others. We must never be judgmental of the faults of

others in a way that we would refuse to have ourselves viewed– Matthew 7:1-5

We must always remember that forgiveness for our sins is a two-way street– Matthew 6:14-15

Yet, it should not cause us to be tolerant of sin, or compromise with sin or sinners while they are still in sin – Acts 5:4– Acts 8:20-23

IT SHOULD MAKE US AVOID FOLLOWING AFTER HUMAN EXAMPLES: BECAUSE ALL ARE MEN, AND ALL HAVE SINNED

The phrase “without sin” is used only of Jesus in the Bible.

1 Peter 2:22

2 Corinthians 5:21

Hebrews 4:15

1 Thessalonians 5:21

IT SHOULD MAKE US REALIZE OUR DEPENDENCE UPON CHRIST FOR SALVATION

Romans 3:23-24

Romans 5:8-11

1 Corinthians 15:9-10

IT SHOULD MAKE US PREPARE AND BUILD OUR CHARACTER

We should prepare and study so we will be able to resist temptations and take a stand against sin – 1 Corinthians 9:27– Philippians 2:12

It will cause us to grow in confidence and avoid despair – Acts 2:38

Grow in patience, so that we can finish the race – 2 Timothy 4:6-8

CONCLUSION

All of us are sinners, that is certain. The difference between the Christian man and the

sinner is the way that they respond to that fact. One man repents and renounces his wrongs. The

other refuses. The Christian loathes his sins and lives for the time

when he will be completely rid of them. The rebellious sinner loves his sins and joyfully wallows in them.

Which picture describes you or me? If it’s the second, and you want to enjoy the blessings that God has promised the faithful, something must be done about it, a change must be made.
