6.7.6 Search

The Search Menu contains the various methods for playing back recorded video and searching for specific events contained in the record database.

o two groups. One is the ‘Calendar Search’ and the other is ‘Smart

Search’. The ‘Event’ search, ‘Block Search’, ‘Text Search’ and the ‘Bookmark’ belong to the ‘Smart Search’.

6.7.6.1 Calendar Search

The Calendar Search is the most commonly used search method. Using the calendar search the user can interrogate the recording database down to the minute and can start playing or copying. The spread preview is also available before starting playback.

Once the month and year have been entered select the search button, the DVR will populate the selected month with the dates that have recordings. This will be indicated by the sky blue triangle on the date box as shown in the below picture. If user wants to specify the HDD, select the proper HDD number in the ‘HDD ID’ selections.

The user can then select the date desired and will be presented with another screen with the date broken down into hours and cameras as the below picture.

The time block here is one hour unit. So the date is divided into 24 blocks. The time block with the yellow-colored cell has the data of the normal recording and the time block with the red-colored cell has the data of the event recording. There is no recording on the grey time block.

By selecting a given hour the user will be given three options such as ‘Spread’, ‘Detail’, and ‘Play’.

ü SPREAD

If ‘Spread’ is selected this option will show snapshots at a set interval starting at the hour selected. The initial interval for the spread view is 4 minutes when it runs with one hour time block. On the other hand, the initial interval is 4 seconds for the spread view from the ‘Detail’ search result.

Once the desired snapshot is identified, by selecting it the user will be given the following additional options: Play or Re-Search by 4 minutes / seconds. After adjusting the interval if desired, the ‘RE-SEARCH’ will result in another series of snapshots at the new set interval starting from the original selected snap shot.

ü DETAIL

If selected, this option will result in another screen but this time the selected hour is broken down by minute. By Selecting a specific minute block the DVR will give the 2 options again: Spread, Play. Each time block is a minute block representing the recording data for a minute.

ü PLAY

Click or enter the play button on the any result view of the calendar search starts the playback from the first time of the selected time block. See the Playback Control for the detail operation of the playback.

When the ‘ESC’ or the ‘STOP is pressed during the playback as a result of the ‘Calendar Search’,

the playback stops and the ‘Calendar Search’ menu appears again. Calendar Search è Playback

è Calendar Search by pressing ‘ESC’ button.

From the Calendar Search Menu, the user can copy the recorded files into the USB Memory stick, DVD/CD or FTP server by entering the Date/Time range and the destination back-up device. Refer to the ‘Copy Using the Calendar Search’ for a detailed description.

6.7.6.2 Copy Using the Calendar Search

With the result of the Calendar search and the playback from it, user can copy the same video as he has seen and checked easily. Once returning from the Calendar search, the ‘COPY Start’ time and the ‘Copy End’ time are loaded automatically with the same times as the period when user has played. The following steps guide you to understand how to operate the copy here.

Adjust the ‘COPY START’ time or the ‘COPY END’ time if required.

Selected the target media for the copy.

Clicking or pressing the enter button on the ‘COPY’ icon initiates the copy operation.

For the following detail operation, please refer to the ‘COPY’ menu.

6.7.6.3 Time Search

Under the ‘Calendar Search’ page, user can start the playback immediately with the time and date which is specified under the ‘START TIME’.

For the immediate ‘Time Search’, no calendar search needs to be executed first.

‘END TIME’ does not affect the ‘Time Search’ and the playback.

6.7.6.4 Smart Search

The Smart Search Menu contains additional search methods such as Event, Block, Text and Bookmark search options.

ü EVENT SERCH

Event search allows the user to search the DVR by events such as motion, Video Loss and Alarm. Event search can only be used if the DVR has been set to record event information.

Select the desired HDD or all HDDs and the desired channel or all channels and the desired start time for the search, select the event types required and click search. The DVR will return a log of events in the chronological order

By selecting an event from the log the user will be presented with two options: Preview or Play.

Preview (Spread View): The DVR will present a series of snapshots representing the event and

subsequent events, by selecting a snapshot the user can return an additional series of

snapshots based on the selected interval or Play from the selected snapshot.

Play: The DVR will commence playback from the selected event.

ü BLOCK SEARCH

Block search has the capability to retrieve the recorded data even from hard drives that may have failed during the operation. Block search reads the logical block addressing (LBA) of the hard disk drives where the recorded data are associated chronologically with the actual location of the files. In other words, even if the hard drives are damaged, it may be possible to retrieve data from the hard disk drives. Block Search allows the user to playback block by block from the hard drive. This search can be used in the event of the file system has been corrupted.

By selecting the desired HDD and the search time, the search lists up the blocks as shown in the above picture. By selecting a desired entry from the list the user can start the playbacks of the block.

ü TEXT SEARCH

Text Search allows the user to search through POS information when POS information is being recorded by the DVR.

Using the on screen keyboard, the user can enter a text to search for and a starting date/time, select search and the DVR will return a list of matching POS entries as shown in the below picture. Playback can be initiated from the list by selecting an entry in the list.

ü BOOKMARK SEARCH

Bookmark search is a handy feature for a user to easily return to a recording of interest. During playback the user can select the bookmark function. The DVR will note the date and time of the bookmark has been placed at. Using the bookmark search option, at list of bookmarks made with the applicable date/time will be returned by the DVR. The user can select the required bookmark and playback the associated recordings

SEARCH: List all registered bookmarks up.

LIST CLEAR: Remove all the registered bookmarks.
