HOST FAMILIES

NEEDED

Up with People The international cast of Up with People will be in North Platte from September 3-10, 2018. Host families are need-ed to house these dynamic young people from 17 countries during their visit. Local families have always been generous in opening their homes, their hearts and their refrigerators to these young people. As a member of our congregation we want to give you the first opportunity to host an international partici-pant. Host families provide a place to sleep, limited local transportation and some meals (usually breakfast and din-ner). As a thank you, all host families will receive 2 complimen-tary tickets to the Up with People Show taking place on September 6 at 7pm and September 9 at 2 & 7PM at the Fox Theatre.

If you are interested in bringing the world into your home please contact Stuart or Rajean Shepherd at 308-530-7351 or [email protected]. The North Platte Catholic Schools will receive a por-tion of the proceeds from the concerts.

Seven Sisters Apostolate is in our Dio-

cese. Bishop Hanefeldt gave his permission and bless-

ing for the apostolate to begin in our Diocese. According to the website, the Seven Sisters Apostolate began in the Diocese of St. Paul, MN. The Apostolate is based around the following struc-ture:

1. The group is comprised of women; however, men

can serve as substitutes.

2. One of the "seven sisters" will be designated as the

organizer and guide for that group and is called the an-choress.

3. Each woman chooses one day in the week to pray,

but the commitment is for that day, not a specific time, so the hour of prayer can be served at any time during that day.

4. The hour is ideally prayed in the presence of the

Blessed Sacrament in a chapel or church, but is not re-stricted to the parish of the priest.

5. Prayers are directed towards the "office of the shep-

herd" more than the individual. Prayers would be for the pastor of a parish and his mission and needs at that par-ish. After the "seven sisters" are designated for the pas-tor, we would then ask for seven more "sisters" to sign up to pray for the Associate Pastor & / or Retired Priests in the Diocese.

6. The Holy Hour would be solely and specifically for

the intentions of the priest and praying for his deepening devotion of Mary. The commitment is for one year. If anyone is interested in being one of the "seven sisters" or would like more information, please contact:

One God. One Church. One mission. The PRO-LIFE Crossroads Walkers are arriving in North Platte for the weekend of June 23/24. Every sum-mer since World Youth Day in Denver a group of walkers have made an annual trek from San Fran-cisco to Wash, DC, transforming lives in response to the call to all the faithful by Blessed Pope John Paul !! in his encyclical Evangelium Vitae.
