THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

John 8:12: Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Jesus made it clear that He is the light of the world. Simply stated He is the phos or luminousness of the world. Further, the Apostle John declared that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). We are told the forerunner to Jesus, John the Baptist, came to bear witness to the Light (John 1:7).

As well, the Scripture declares, In Him (Jesus) was life; and the life was the light of men (John 1:4). Jesus again is declared the light and is qualified as the light of men. In this interesting grammar construction, we learn that He was the life as much as He was the light of men. Therefore as our text verse states, if a man follows Jesus, he shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

What have you done with Jesus, the life and light of men? There are only two responses. The first is that you hate the light and the truth: And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved (John 3:19-20). And the second response is that you have come to the light and the truth: But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God (John 3:21).

The Lord Jesus reveals the choice He would have you make. I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness (John 12:46). And again John says, But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin (1 John 1:7).

Have you received Jesus Christ as your Savior, turning your faith to Him alone? You must if you are going to go to heaven. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me (John 14:6). -CAR

Message by Dr. Caswell A. Reeves

The Bible shares many examples of God’s warriors of the Faith. As New Testament Believers, we are also the soldiers of the cross of Christ. We fight our flesh, the world, and the devil to bring lost souls to Jesus Christ so that they may have everlast-ing life. We are encouraged by the following examples of godly warriors: I. Abraham (Hebrews 11:8-10) A. Man of trust (vs. 8) B. Man of obedience (vs. 8) C. Man of giving II. Moses (Hebrews 11:23ff) A. Man of meekness - humility B. Man of separation (vs. 24) C. Man of suffering (vs. 25-26) D. Man of blessing (vs. 28-29) III. Joshua (Hebrews 11:30) A. Man of faith (vs. 30) B. Man of loyalty C. Man of commitment IV. David (Hebrews 11:32) A. Man of faith (vs. 32) B. Man of God’s word C. Man after God’s heart

Will you fight the good fight of Faith? Will you become a warrior for Christ Jesus, following the exampleof those who have gone on before?
