Club News: Here's the update for Green n Growing!

The Green n Growing Club has been busy this fall

recruiting new families to join our club and have some

fun exploring 4-H! We made a "We're nuts for 4-H"

themed booth for the County-wide open house and the

kids enjoyed drawing designs onto buckeyes

while the parents chatted about 4-H opportuni-

ties. In September, we held our first fall meeting

and swore in our new officers: Carly Peterson

(President), Emma Vorpagel (Vice President),

Ryanne Farris (Secretary), and Cory Schumacher

(Treasurer). During our October meeting, we

hosted a potluck dinner and Halloween costume

party. The kids were very creative with their

costumes!

4-Leaf 4-H News:

At our September meeting, we had a potluck and

icebreakers. There we're a couple new families, so

this was a great way to get to know them and get

them introduced to everyone. The food was great,

and we all enjoyed ourselves. We played lots of

games, and had loads of fun playing the ice

breakers such as frogger and two truths and a lie.

At our second meeting, (October) we had two

activities, a pine cone craft and candy making.

Every child participated in the candy making, and

eating it. The candy that we made was white

chocolate bark with crushed Oreos. With the pine

cone craft, we were able to make a Christmas tree,

an owl, or a turkey. Everyone at the meeting

participated and we had a great meeting overall.

Club News: Prairie Pioneers News :

In September, the club participated in the 4H family fun night. The club set-up a table

with projects that have been entered into fair and a sucker-pull game for kids to play.

Many families stopped by to gain more information about the club. The club also

participated in the North Prairie Harvest Fest parade and held the first meeting on

September 25th. It was exciting to see many new faces come to check out the club. We

had fun making rainbow mason lamps with tissue paper. In October, the club meeting

was a pizza eating-pumpkin carving-tag playing-fun time!!!

The clubs next meeting will be Friday November 10th at 6:15pm at the North Prairie

Town Hall. This meeting will include a potluck dinner. Please note that this replaces the

typical Thursday meeting; so no meeting on Thursday November 16th. There will also be

highway clean-up on Sunday November 5th. December’s meeting will be Thursday

December 21st; the club will be doing secret Santa. The club will be setting a date for

angle tree shopping.

Club News: Ottawa: Some Ottawa 4-H Club members are enjoying new positions as officers, having been elected at the September meeting. The reserved seats for the officers (the cushy chairs) will be filled by President Sawyer Mundschau, Vice-President Isabelle Eide, Secretary Gabriella Tessman, Treasurer Abiah Radtke, and Reporter Natalie Radtke, along with 8 photographers. For our October meeting, we had a hay ride at the Tessman Farm. Everyone had loads of fun! We picked pumpkins, watched the cows, and had some yummy treats! Our club is very thankful for such hospitable hosts. We are all excited for upcoming events, such as our 4-H Trim-A-Tree at the Zoo, Santa Comes to Dousman, and of course, the 2018 Waukesha County Fair!

Club News:

In September the Washington 4-H Club installed new officers, President Moira Arcuri, Vice President Amara Bugenhagen, Secretary Sean McGrath, Treasurer Dalton Pfaff and Reporter Brooklyn Jones. The club presented our 2017 Angel Award to Mrs. Stephanie Arcuri for all her countless volunteer efforts with our club leadership, curtain call and awards, dog and horse project leadership at the county level. We welcomed 12 new members to our first meeting of the year! September is always our project night too, where members bring in their favorite projects from last year to show to the club and help people get ideas as they are signing up for projects this year. Later in September, Brianna Jones organized a club community service project making busy blankets for the elderly with dementia. This was a great project to learn sewing skills and learn about the needs of the elderly.

At our October club meeting, our guest speaker was Mr. Weston from Weston heritage apple orchards in New Berlin. We learned a lot of unusual information about apples! Then everyone played a quick game of heads or tails 4-H trivia. Our club had fun hosting a booth at the Waukesha County Open House, and we also participated in the Mukwonago Jack o Lantern Jaunt with a pumpkin promotional display. Some of our club project meetings have already started for the year such as cake decorating, youth leadership, horses, quilting and Lego League robotics. Our FLL club kicked off our Lego League Robotics Team in August! We have a full team of youth learning about the world of water conservation, robotics and engineering. Our team the “Washington Waterworks” practiced at the Waukesha South High School Scrimmage and will be competing in the tournament at Mukwonago High School in November! Wish them Luck!

Club News:

Menomonee Falls Busy Beavers 4-H Club has been off to a great start! August was working on getting record books in and evaluating our year, while looking forward to another fun year in 4-H coming up. Our Clubs theme this year is “Celebrating 75 years of 4-H”!

At our September meeting, we had 7 new families join! Our club did a club fair where members brought in their fair projects and talked about what they had learned. Our club did an outing at the Zoo by participating in the Lung zoo walk, Our community service was taking a collection of school supplies that was distributed to our local schools. The meeting activity was an ice breaker game which was a fun way to learn something new about our members and meet the new members. We had a discussion on what our club would like to do and learn this year so we can go forward in making those plans. Our club will be doing club projects once again this year. We have done health as a club project, now this year, we will be doing a few more to help with our youth in our club get projects done. One of the projects will be ceramics.

Our October meeting included some members doing a group Demonstration about their horse project. Our community service was taking up a collection of coats and warm cloth-ing for the coats for kids drive. We had 3 seasonal make and takes for the activity along with holding our officer elections. Our 2017-2018 Officers are:

President: Ericanna Mabbett

Vice President: Charlie DeCloux

Treasurer: Emily Neuburg

Secretary: Sami Bori

Reporter: Kyrie Kons

Historian: Delaney Vanderberg

Ambassador: Ericanna Mabbett

Our club Banquet and awards ceremony was held at Demarinis pizza pub in October. It was a great time to socialize, celebrate our 4-H year and look forward to a new year. We held our officer inauguration and had a 75th birthday cake.

In November, we will have a country springs water park outing, making our farm animals for our Zoo tree, and our monthly community service for the food pantry.

The teen council has already been very busy with their first 2 meetings of the year! This year, the teen leaders are all meeting together, and then separating into smaller groups to work on different projects. Teens can choose teen council planning activities, teen teaching activities or ambassador opportunities depending on their interests each month. In September the teens led the Waukesha County officers training education, and helped celebrate National 4-H Week with press releases. They are planning outings throughout the year, including the Cozy Nook pumpkin farm in October, Country Springs waterpark in November and Helium Trampoline in January. The teen council hosted the dinner at the Waukesha 4-H Open House, and they are planning a new design for Waukesha County 4-H T-shirts and hoodies. They plan to use the proceeds from their fundraisers to help pay a portion of registration fees to leadership experiences. In November the group is very excited to be sending a delegation of 12 Waukesha County teen members to the Wisconsin 4-H Fall Forum in Green Lake! They will share more about this trip in the next edition.

Reminder, each 4-H member involved in doing “any shooting” in the 4-H Shooting Sports Program MUST fill out both the Waiver/Code of Conduct AND the Medical Consent forms. With the NEW 4-H ON-LINE ENROLLMENT all forms are now “on-line” and need to be filled out.

NOTE: The 4-H Shooting Sports Program is open to any regular 4-H member, 3rd grade and above. Sorry, but due to insurance and safety reasons, Cloverbuds can NOT participate in ANY area of the Shooting Sports Program. All members and leaders MUST sign up for the shooting sports discipline they wish to participate in or are “certified in” (leaders), EACH YEAR! DO NOT SIGN UP UNDER THE “SHOOTING SPORTS” LISTING, AS THAT IS A GENERIC LISTING AND DOES NOT CORRE-SPOND TO ANY PARTICULAR DISCIPLINE! Also, members MUST BE AT LEAST 12 YEARS OLD to participate in doing any actual shooting of any POWDER BURNING FIREARMS, i.e. .22 Rifle, .22 Pistol, Shotgun, or Muzzleloading. These are both State 4-H and National 4-H Guidelines.

ANNUAL REQUIRED INFORMATIONAL MEETING

There will be the annual required informational meeting in January, 2018. Date is tentatively set for Wednesday, January 3rd. Meeting will cover information of all aspects and areas of the Shooting Sports Program. Once everything is confirmed, information will be sent out from the 4-H office.

RIFLE / PISTOL

Practices started on Monday, October 30th, for rifle, air rifle, pistol & air pistol. Practices are held eve-ry Monday night, and will run through March, at the indoor range at Hillcrest Park (the old Nike Site), 2119 Davidson Road, Waukesha. Starting time is 7:00 PM. Depending on the numbers that show up each night, practice sessions may have to be alternated each week due to only 8 shooting lanes availa-ble, OR plan on a longer night to give everyone a chance to shoot! We will stay there until everyone has had a chance to shoot.

Those who shoot the air rifle and air pistol, are limited to only pellets, NO BB’s. Reminder, for both .22 rifle and .177 pellet rifle, those who are in the second year (sitting position), third year (kneeling position) and forth year (standing position), have these additional positions to practice for the fair shoot. Cost is $2.00 per night and you need to bring your own equipment (including eye and ear protection) and ammo (see note below), NO RENTALS ARE AVAILABLE!

SPECIAL NOTE: Even though there is still a shortage and lack of availability of ammunition, I have some “Good News”. Thanks to a special program that 4-H was able to participate in again this year, I was able to get some .22 ammunition for this upcoming 4-H year, and I will have both a supply of box-es of 50 rounds and bulk cartons of 325 rounds. The cost of the ammunition has not changed, and it is still cheaper that what is available out there, IF it can be found! Cost of the 50 round boxes will be $3.00 each and the bulk carton of 325 rounds will be $20.00 per carton. Again, there is a limited quantity of this ammunition, and once it is gone, it’s gone!

ARCHERY

Next year’s Archery season will begin in January, 2018. More information will be in the next Clover Flyer.

SHOTGUN/TRAP SHOOTING

Look for the Shotgun/Trapshooting to start up again in late April or May of 2018.

FINAL NOTE: All of the practices for “any” of the areas of the Shooting Sports Pro-gram are set up as “County Level Practices”. Members can come to as many or as few of the practices they want to. There are NO REQUIRED numbers of practices members need to attend. Just remember, the more practices that are attended gives each member more prac-tice time and the possibility of higher scores at the fair shoots.
