Runway Holding Position MarkingFound on taxiways at runway intersections where aircraft is to stop. DO NOT cross this marking until cleared.

Non-Movement Area Boundary MarkingDepicts boundary between ATCT controlled surface area anduncontrolled apron area. DO NOT cross this marking until cleared.

Holding Position and Location SignIn this example, aircraft is at Alpha 5 intersection. Runway 3threshold is to the left and Runway 21 threshold is to the right.

Direction Signs and Location SignsThe yellow direction signs indicate the direction of intersectingtaxiways or connectors. The yellow direction sign indicates you areapproaching taxiway Alpha and you are at the Alpha 4 connector.

Runway Distance to Go SignNumber indicates runway distance remaining in thousands of feet.

Runway Incursions✈ The FAA defines a runway incursion as:

Any occurence at an airport involving an aircraft, vehicle, person, or object on the ground that creates a collision hazard or results in loss of separation with an aircraft taking off or intending to take off, landing, or intending to land

✈ Any pilot can cause a pilot deviation (PD) runway incursion

✈ Any tower controller can cause an operational error (OE) runway incursion

✈ Any person or vehicle on an airport can cause a vehicle/pedestrian deviation (V/PD) runway incursion

The FAA states that pilots cause over half of all runway incursionseach year. Of these pilot deviations, 2/3 are general aviation.
