Well, our annual auction was a big success with nearly 110 la-dies attending, some 18 or so being guests. Our club is very, very lucky to have members who are so willing to be gener-ous with their donations and their time. The behind-the- scenes work is amazing be-cause it takes much organization and ef-fort to put this event together, starting weeks in advance and ending up with a not so fun clean-up! Thank you to all who helped make the luncheon and auction possible. I suspect we had many very tired ladies at the end of the day!

President’s Letter I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope that your day will be filled with the blessings of family and friends. With the holidays fast approaching after Thanksgiving, please remember the

needy families that we have adopted. I am sure we can make their holidays a bit

more joyous. I look forward to seeing you at our Christmas

luncheon where we can kick off the holiday season. Karen Eckel

The tastings will be on the FIRST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH from 5:00 to 6:30. Thanks to the great efforts of Ebba and Les Ostrom, they will be held at the Sons of Norway Hall at 6710 N. Country Homes Blvd. Maureen and Rick Boutz and Kathy and Bill Catron are co-chairing the group. Each month they will pick a wine theme (e.g. Sonoma County Zinfandels, Walla Walla wines, etc.) and purchase from five to seven different wines for the tasting. Cheese and crackers will be pro-vided.

Our next tasting will be on Saturday, December5. We will be tasting holiday wines and sparklers. Come join the group as we develop our palettes and taste some new, ex-citing wines. The cost is $10.00 per person. RESERVATIONS ONLY. RSVP to Kathy Catron at 467-2621 or [email protected]

Birgitta is collecting old glasses, which she will then give to the Lion’s Club, and they will distribute them to people in need within the United States. She is also collecting used cell phones, which can be given to people to be used only for 911. They can be brought to the luncheons and given to Birgitta. Thank you for your donations.

Thank you everyone for coming to the auction and participating in such a fun-filled event. There were 103 members and guests present and all enjoyed wan-dering the silent auction tables finding great buys for bidding. We sincerely thank all the members for the wonderful items donated for the si-lent and live auctions, and for the sinfully delicious-looking baked goods for sale. Hopefully everyone went home with something special they were happy to have purchased.

A special thanks to all of you who volunteered, making this year even more suc-cessful than last year. When we were cleaning up we found a coiled silver spiral top with a cork attached that we are pretty sure went to the red glass oil and vine-gar bottles. If you are the one who went home with this item and want the top, please contact Joan Wall by phone or email and she will bring it with her to the next meeting or arrange to get it to you. She is in the directory. Also, a special big Thank You to Kit Eckel for all the help he put in, staying long after every-body had gone home sorting out tables and chairs etc.

Can you believe Christmas is right around the corner? As you might remember, Compass Club is making the holidays brighter for two military families. Now is the time to review their wish list and purchase some clothing, bedding or toys for the families. Cash donations are always great; I will purchase items that have not been donated from the wish list. I will be collecting money gift cards and gifts at our De-cember luncheon. The weather this fall has been cooperative and our hikes have been successful. I hope to have more...until the snow flies. After that, I will try to ar-range some snow shoe hikes… We have over 40 ladies signed up for these hikes. I try to schedule our outings on days that the weather is cooperative...that means I will have about a week of a window from daily weather reports to make arrange-ments. Let me know if you would like to join us! On some hikes, your faithful, 4-legged friends are welcome to join us. I'll inform you of hikes via e-mails. Happy Holi-days...be safe out there on your hikes! Your leader, Tudi Pitman
