2) Henry Bowen and Thomas Smith, both of Tredegar, constructor and steel worker

respectively, both trustees of the Health and Sick Relief Fund of the Tredegar Works.

3) George Arthur Brown, as described in D.3246.22.1.

(3) accepts a salary from the stoppages of the workpeople of no less than £1,600 and no more

than £1,900, exclusive of the annual midwifery attendance allowance.

D.3246.22. 3 1901 Oct. 1 Agreement

1) Alfred Simeon Tallis of Rhyd Hall, Tredegar, Manager of the Tredegar Iron and

Coal Company Limited.

2) Henry James of James Street, Tredegar, collier and Lewis Williams of 6, Church

Street, Tredegar, smith, on behalf of the Committee of the Tredegar Workmen's

Medical Aid and Sick Relief Fund Society.

3) George Arthur Brown, as described in D.3246.22.1.

Appoints (3) as Chief Medical and Surgical Attendant at a salary of £900 yearly with the

following yearly payments; £70 for residence and surgery, £6 for a cleaner, £8 for coal, the

payment of all rates, taxes and gas for the surgery. (3) is permitted to practice privately as

a physician and surgeon and the Committee covenant to provide him with qualified assistants

and dispensers. He agrees to provide horses, carriages and grooms and the Committee

covenant to take over and value his present stock of drugs and appliances and to provide him

with such drugs and equipment in future on condition that he pays for drugs, medicines and

appliances on a yearly basis, if they have been used for his private practice. He agrees to

hand over all contributions and other sums received as Medical Officer to the Tredegar

Medical Aid Society and Railway Sheds Medical Aid Society, less commission for his

collecting such sums.

D.3246.22. 4 1909 Dec. 1 Agreement

Square, Tredegar, boiler-maker on behalf of the Committee of the Tredegar

Appoints (3) as Assistant Medical and Surgical Officer at a yearly salary of £237.10s and

D.3246.22.10 1915 Apr. 27 Agreement

1) Edwin Thomas Harries Davies, as described in D.3246.22.9.

Agrees that Edwin Thomas Harries Davies shall provide, at his own cost an Argyll Motor

Car 15.H.P. 4 cylinder standard touring model to be used by himself and the Assistant

Doctors in the practice for travel to outlying areas of the Tredegar Urban District Council.

He also covenants to employ and pay a chauffeur, provide and maintain a garage, wash clean

and maintain the car, provide insurance, provide a replacement car if the car is unfit for use

for more than 40 hours, provide and pay the licenses for the Chauffeur and car, pay for the

uniform for the Chauffeur, pay any tines incurred by the Chauffeur. The Trustees covenant

to pay £8.6s.8d a month to the Doctor, except that there shall be a proportionate reduction

if the Doctor is unable to obtain a replacement if the car is unfit for use. Arbitration clause.

D.3246.22.13 1917 [n.d.] Draft Agreement

2) Edward Hughes of Butleigh Terrace Tredegar, miner and Thomas Llewellyn of 104 Vale Terrace, Tredegar, blacksmith, trustees of the Tredegar Workmen's Medical Aid Society.

3) Alfred Simeon Tallis; Richard Henry Spencer of 3 Queen Square, Tredegar, solicitor; Alfred Onions of Melrose Vil la Tredegar, miners' agent; John Lloyd of 21 Kimberley Terrace, Tredegar, mill clerk and John Jones of Woodfield Road, Tredegar, colliery examiner.

That members of and subscribers to the Medical Aid Society shall contribute to the Hospital, through deductions from their wages to obtain benefits. The Trustees of the Tredegar Workmen's Medical A id Society shall continue to grant the services of their Chief Medical Officer free, but valued at £500, yearly. The Trustees shall pay to the Hospital Trustees £100 yearly in quarterly instalments of £25. The Hospital Trustees shall supply the required drugs and appliances to the members of the Medical Aid Society at no additional cost. The instruments and appliances now in the Hospital and owned by the Medical Aid Society are to remain there for the use of the Chief Surgeon and medical staff.
