In exercise of the Powers Conferred upon the Minister by Section 136 the Mining Act, 1989, I hereby make the following Regulations.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Mining (Special)Regulations 2006, and shall come into effect on the 15thday of August, 2006.

2. In these Regulations "Commission" shall mean the GuyanaGeology and Mines Commission.

3. These Regulations shall apply only for the purposes of andin relation to the application for Prospecting Permits,Mining Permits and Prospecting Licences over the areas asdescribed in the Schedules hereunder ahd to the extent onlyas set out in these Regulations.

4. In relation. to the areas set out in Schedule 1, these shall besubject to public auction to be held at date and time to be.announced. All logistical information shall be provided bythe Commission in the daily newspapers or other publicmedium.

5. In relation to the areas set out in Schedule-II, these shall besubject to public auction at a time and date to beannounced. All logistical information shall be provided bythe Commission in the daily newspapers or other publicmedium. · -·-> �,.

7. Subsequent to the aforesaid auctions all applications forgrant of permits and licences, as the case may be, shall besubmitted within six weeks of the date of the auction.

8. Subsequent to the holding of the auction, the Commissionmay, as it determines, accept applications for auction areasas set out in Schedules I, II, III that were not awarded at theaforesaid auction at a price of no less than one and twofifth times the set minimum bid price as announced at theauction.

9. Failure to comply with the application procedures asprovided for under the Mining Act 1989, and Regulations,shall result in the award being considered to have lapsed.
