Energy in Foods Sources Standards
For pupils to understand how the human body energy from foods.
We get energy form the food we eat and drink. They are broken down by oxygen gas to release the energy. Some food that give us energy are: Bananas Brown rice Sweet potatoes Eggs Apples Beans Oranges Honey Salmon etc. GROUP ACTIVITY QUESTIONS Where do we get our food from? Why do we need food? What do plants give us? What do animals give us? Who gives food to animals?
Sharing among peers how they feel after having a meal. Comparing feelings at the end of the day at school day or after playing. Identifying how foods release energy. Comparing and discussing that the oxygen gas that we breathe in helps with the breakdown of foods to release energy. Comparing the right foods that should be consumed to give energy. How things move
For pupils to know how force works
A force is a push or pull of an object. Objects can move in different ways. Things can move when we push, pull, twist or lifted. Things that are pushed – wheel barrow, trolley, chair, baby stroller, cart. Things that can be pulled – horse/ donkey cart, nail, tooth, kite, rope on flag pole. Things that can be twisted – bottle cap, body (waist), screw. Things that can be lifted – bucket, glass of water.
