pre-assembled, pre-packaged guy kit that includes all of the hardware to make the pole attachment, guy strain insulators, and either formed wire or Strandvise automatic guy deadends that facilitates a cost effective installation. Simply attach the guy hook to the pole with the packaged hardware, drop the guy strand to the ground, make the connection to the anchor rod, tension, and the installation is complete.

MPS can customize each guy kit to comply with local construction / material specifi cations including assemblies that call for fi berglass guy strain insulators, guy grips, clevis-thimbles or “johnny balls”. All material is easy to handle and ready to install in one complete kit.

An MPS guy kit eliminates stores requisitioning of multiple materials to begin a job and the restocking of excess items when the job is fi nished.

AssemblyMPS guy kits are assembled in one of MPS’ Birmingham, Alabama facilities and are assigned a part number for a specifi c utility Bill of Material which will conform to the utility’s standard construction method.

Guy strand is uncoiled from a master reel and cut to the appropriate length. Guy grips (if used) and hardware are installed / attached and coiling machines are used to shape the strand. Depending on the utilities’ deadend hardware specifi cations, either the Strandvise automatic deadend, or guy grip for connection to the anchor rod is attached to the kits using tie wraps.

MacLean’s coiling equipment can accomodate any type of guy strand including Alumoweld, High Strength EHS, Siemens-Martin and Utilities Grade galvanized guy wire up to 1/2” diameter. Once the guy strand is shaped, tie wraps are placed around the coil to hold the components in kit form. Depending upon the materials specifi ed, the kit’s diameter will typically range between 35 and 40 inches.

PackagingAfter assembly, MacLean Power Systems’ guy kits are individually tie-wrapped, stacked 15-30 high shrink wrapped and banded securely to pallet for shipment.

Short guy strain insulators can be pre-assembled in the kit while long fi berglass guy strains can be packaged with guy kits on the same pallet.
