‘Guy combines skill and creativity with a vast amount knowledge and industry experience of how to create really truly beautiful hair.
What makes him stand out from the crowd is his ability to understand the needs of each of his students and deliver a skills-based educational programme that is both relevant and tailored to meet the development needs of each individual.
No challenge is too great or too small! His abilities allow him to perform at any level whether in a classroom, one-to-one, a dynamic seminar or a knock-out show. A true creative professional with a real passion and an absolute mastery of his medium – hair!’
Simon Ellis
International Creative Director
Schwarzkopf Professional
I am Guy De Waen and I have more than one facet. I am a hair-
dresser, a trainer, a Schwarzkopf International Ambassador,
founder of my own academy and a creative with an insatiable
appetite for everything to do with hair!
BACKGROUND
There were two hair salons in the street I grew up on and every day
I would find new reasons to pass by and glimpse inside – I was 6
years old and had found my vocation. No-one in my family had
their own business or creative ambitions so I challenged many pre-
conceptions to succeed.
INFLUENCES
My formal training as a hairdresser was set against a backdrop of
the MTV generation and the exciting boom of New Wave music in
Belgium – both of which fuelled my experimental impulse to push
the boundaries of what is possible with hair.
Antwerp, the fashion capital of Belgium, is my hometown and it’s
renowned for combining originality with accessible ideas that work
in a real environment. This ethos influences my work even today, as
I continually seek new ideas and techniques to inspire my students
and attract new clients.
TODAY
My life is a dynamic mix of roles, each of which enhances the
others, with a common thread of excellence throughout. I travel
the world educating professionals at all levels and then, when I
come home, my academy Hairrevolution, demands my undivided
attention. I am also invited to be part of incredible teams in live
shows and am continually learning new things, passing on fresh in-
spiration and growing professionally – what more could I wish for?
SNAPSHOT VIEW
‘My job is more than teaching hairdressers to use their scissors - it’s about education powering their future’
TEACH
I started teaching five students in a basement three days a week
and quickly created an intimate style that met their needs,
answered their questions and conveyed my passion. Today, I teach
seminars, masterclasses and tailored courses all over the world
from Europe and Russia to China and Brazil, yet my ‘up close’ style
remains the same. Even on the biggest stages I always share my
expertise and insight in an immediate and accessible way.
MY ACADEMY
In 1999 I founded Hairrevolution, my own teaching academy in
Belgium. Offering a unique mix of the technical, social and
commercial, students work on blockheads, live models and clients
to hone all the skills they need for success.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF COMPANY
A brilliant mix of knowledge and emotion, Schwarzkopf Professio-
nal is unlike any other business I’ve encountered. Since 2005 we’ve
collaborated more and more, until in 2014 I was appointed their
International Ambassador. Working with them has taken me all over
the world and led to loads of unique experiences.
TYLER JOHNSTON
Working with Tyler since 1999 on live shows and editorial has
taught and inspired me so much. As a renowned stylist and Global
Ambassador for Schwarzkopf he has shown me how the best cuts
are built from the purest shapes and that how you finish your work
is as important as the cut.
ESSENTIAL LOOKS
Being involved in the creation of this definitive trend bible for more
than a decade and then in the shows, launches and events that
bring it to life, has raised my skill level and professional status.
What I doWORKING WITH SCHWARZKOPF PROFESSIONAL
‘Guy’s teaching is so personal and easy to understand that stylists love to work with him and be taught by him.’
Edward Grimson
Regional Marketing &
PPS Director APAC
Schwarzkopf Professional
‘Guy is a true professional who never fails to impress. As an educator and hairdresser, he will always give you his best.’
Tyler Johnston
Global Ambassador
Schwarzkopf Professional
‘Guy is passionate about hair with a sharp eye for detail and finish. He has a true understan-ding of the word empathy, which is why he is also an excellent edu-cator who can mentor and teach in a way that makes learning both exciting and fun!’
Steve Hogan
Essential Looks Creative Director
Schwarzkopf Professional
Live shows are uniquely thrilling events. This is where vision, music,
creativity, adrenalin, lights, drama and a live audience all come together.
I’ve had the pleasure of working both front- and backstage on shows of all
sizes. From an exclusive event in a castle in Austria to the stunning hairdres-
sers awards in Shanghai, and the main stage of the world launch of Essential
Looks in Barcelona - each one is different but all of them fuel my passion.

I offer tailored solutions to all my clients. Because each individual
or group has very particular needs, I flex what I do every time to
meet and exceed their expectations.
With every booking I collaborate with the country or event
manager, so I can tailor my message to their country or region.
Then I demonstrate and explain every detail, checking that each
member of the group understands before moving on. This
ensures I instil confidence in each student that both knowledge
and techniques can be put straight to work.
Brussels, Belgium
My varied clients include students, hairdressers at all levels,
salon managers, technical assistants, audiences at shows
and seminars, trainers for Schwarzkopf Professional and
academies worldwide.
Who I serve What I deliver
Every aspect of my teaching is built upon a bedrock of alomst 30
years’ personal experience so it’s all second nature - and I think
this shines through.
I specialise in precision hair cutting with great attention to detail.
I convey this in an instantly accessible and inspiring way, bringing
my messages to life using tablets, cameras and mixed media. Yet,
as professional success depends on putting creative skills in a com-
mercial context, I also help my clients develop communication and
consultation skills.
