1. Amity University Gurgaon – A Cradle of Innovations

Here at AUG under your mentorship Hon’ble Chancellor, we are committed to excel in our educational, research and innovation goals and in the mission of global eminence. Our eyes are well set in our university to cause innovations in plenty, nurturing a culture of innovation, making innovation a habit, contribute to solution research for the industry and society, provide an education and

research environment to empower our graduates and scholars with the "Wings of Knowledge and Power of Innovation" so that they succeed in taking the flights of success and contribute to the prosperity and wellbeing of the vast humanity.

An interdisciplinary team of under graduates led by a highly innovative and inspired mind of Pavleen Bali and Rishab Aswal have designed and developed a next generation autonomous aircraft powered by gyroscopically mounted twin copters for which they have also filed their patent. This innovative aircraft, a next generation drone, has been designed and developed in just 06 months and is a world beater in its design and novelty.

Likewise another group of talented students from Electronics and Communication of our ASET led by Tarun Kalia have designed and developed a 3D Printing Machine that is capable of integrating design and manufacturing for highly complex forms and components. Yet another student from Aerospace Engineering Rupesh Agrawal has made a significant headway in the field of Ammonium Nitrate for rocket propellant. Another team of undergraduates led by Ananya Mathur and Drasthi Nanda have won the first prize for their bionic arm in the poster competition at Indo-Japan Technology summit held at IIT BHU. Manoj Choudhary a recent graduate of Amity University Rajasthan who is spear heading our Robotics innovations has mentored a number of innovative Robotics projects pursued by our innovative students in the area of bio-inspired robotics.

I am happy to report that a team of highly innovative minds of under graduates our School of Architecture and Planning led by Ankush, student of final year BArch has won the National Interior Design Competition and received the winner’s trophy at Archostav 2015. The AUG team of ASAP has also won the Runners up Trophy in the Innovation in Design Competition at Archotsav 2015 and also received a cash prize of Rs 60,000/.

Likewise the students of Amity School of Fashion and Technology and Amity Institute of Design participated in National Textile Conference 2015 “Make in India: Destination Textiles” organized by Textile Association of India. I am happy to inform that the students from Fashion Design and Interior Design department secured 3rd position in the event and received a cash prize of Rs. 11000. Further our student Surbhi Malhotra from ASFDT also received Scholarship of Rs. 25000/ for her academic excellence from Textile Association(India).

I am also happy to report that a team of highly inspired minds of Ayush Awasthy and Rishabh Patel, both undergraduates of Electronics and Communication are working on a highly innovative project for “mind to mind communication” so that one day the prophecy of Mr. Bill Gates of 1998 of transaction of “Business at the Speed of Thought” could become a reality in our own life time. Projects like these are also a way forward to succeed in dispelling the myth that telepathy is no science as we shall make mind to mind communication possible with the innovations in bio-electronics and neural communication on the strength of what is now being called neuropathy, a new way to describe telepathy for the modern scientists.

Bio-inspired molecular manufacturing is yet another highly innovative project that we are embarking upon in the area of bio-structural engineering. Likewise molecular medicine and stem cell based therapy are the areas of priority at AUG in our Amity Institute of Biotechnology. These and many more of our innovative projects are on display in our Innovation galleries in the Academic Blocks C and B. I invite you all to visit our innovation galleries and motivate our young innovators.

We are conscious of the fact that creating a Culture of Innovation requires an open mind accepting the fact that innovations have no boundaries nor are they dependent on length of experience, least they acknowledge any hierarchy. A young innovative mind can challenge a well-established product design and cause a new revolution in respect of creating new market and benefit the mankind at large with its focus on energy efficiency, environmental sustainability and thus adding to improved quality of life of the people around the world. The new knowledge age has opened vast avenues for open access to the vast body of knowledge reservoir that too to anyone and everyone who has the connectivity and ability to synthesize the available know how and cause the innovative mind to evolve new ideas, new product designs and thus create new businesses and new enterprises. This is giving rise to new start-ups, creating new market and causing compulsions to remain competitive on the strength of innovativeness and the vision for a bright and sustainable future.

We are truly delighted that our Government at the Centre has launched the mission “Statup India, Stand-up India. I am truly delighted to report that Amity University Gurgaon is rapidly emerging as a cradle of innovations and giving rise to growth of start-ups. Dr. Smith embodies the commitment to the field of scientific research as well as an unmatched spirit of inquiry. Dr. Smith studied the air quality around rural homes in China, India, Nepal and Latin America while making painstaking measurements of soot and hydrocarbon concentrations. Then in association with epidemiologist colleagues, documented the health impacts those arise due to these exposures.

A Doctorate in Biomedical and Environmental Health from University of California, Berkeley, USA and a researcher of great academic influence and repute, Dr. Kirk Smith is serving as Professor of Global Environmental Health, University of California, Berkeley. As a Founder Director of the Global Health and Environment Program, School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Smith is a leading light in the area of environmental health sciences. Two most influential NGOs run by former students have spun off from Dr. Smith’s research group, namely, Impact Carbon, which develops improved stove programmes for the international carbon market, and Berkeley Air Monitoring Group, which conducts independent monitoring and evaluation of household energy programmes around the world.

The recipient of several national and international awards for his contribution to the field of environmental health sciences, Dr. Smith is considered a defining figure in the domain of global environmental health.
