About• Signature Programs allow students in Years 5 & 6 to develop

skills in an area they wish to explore. At the end of the year, each program will result in a culminating activity or showcase. Sessions will run during school time on a Friday afternoon in Semester 2.

• Application forms will be sent home electronically this week so families can select their first and second preference.

Sport Aerobics

Hollis Hall

Sport Aerobics• An opportunity for students to further their

skills in, and knowledge about all aspects of Sport Aerobics

• Students will create and perform their own choreography in teams

• Students will train and track their progress throughout the semester in the lead up to the "Gumdale Aerobics Choreography Competition" COST: Nil

Max: 30 Students

Diving

Brisbane Aquatic Centre

Diving• An opportunity for students to learn new skills in a safe,

fun and challenging environment. Lessons will be using platform, springboard and dry area facilities at Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

• Sessions are instructed by Level 2 Nationally Accredited Head Coach Olympian Jeff Arbon.

• 14 x 1 hour sessions including transport, facility hire and instruction.

Approx Cost $210

Max: 30 Students

Elite Sailing

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron

Elite Sailing

Approx Cost: $810 + $200 bond

Max: 10 Students

• Have fun, meet new people and learn techniques to sail competitively.

• Participate in the QLD Youth Sailing Championships in Yeppoon (20-25 September) and the Sail Brisbane Regatta in December.

• Cost includes:

✓ RQYS Annual Membership

✓ 14 training sessions + one way bus transport (parents to collect from RQYS on Friday afternoon)

✓ Yeppoon - Green fleet training in Yepoon

✓ Yeppoon - Regatta fees

✓ Yeppoon - Hire of Optimist vessel

✓ $200 bond refundable upon return of all equipment in same condition it was loaned.

Equestrian

Kurshonbrooke Lodge

Equestrian• Riders will have the opportunity to work with several different horses

during the program with interactions integral to each lesson.

• 4 components of the program: General Knowledge, Horse Welfare, Riding Skills and Practical Skills.

• Riders will receive personal feedback and guidance each week

• Certificate of completion from Equestrian Australia

• Includes 14 sessions, the "Ready Set Trot" Pack and access to Kurshonbrooke’sonline training videos to complete theory components.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking• An opportunity for students to ride a purpose built

mountain biking track at MBBC.

• Skills coaching by qualified mountain biking instructors

• 14 x 1 hour sessions at Moreton Bay Boys College

• Cost includes transport to venue, AusCyclingmembership, instruction

Music Technology

Music Technology• Students will use music technology to expand their

knowledge and skills of the sound production process from composing to recording music.

• iPads and headphones are required and recording equipment will be provided.

• Students will produce their own piece of music and music video to present at an end of semester Music Showcase.

Netball

• Opportunity for students to further their skills in, and knowledge about all aspects of Netball including preparation, attack skills, defence skills, game strategy and experience in refereeing.

• Students will participate in an intra-school competition during the program.

Robotics & Drones

Resource Centre

Robotics & Drones• The Coding and Robotics elective will offer a series

of self-paced learning activities using a visual programming language.

• Students will engage with a range of activities using Mindstorm EV3, Spheros, coding, robotics and drones.

STEM Garden

STEM Room & Gardens

STEM Garden• Build a garden moisture sensor!

Do you have a passion for engineering?Do you have a passion for inventing technology?Do you have a passion for design and showcasing?

• STEM Gardening involves working in teams to achieve engineering gardening goals.

• Teams will be assigned real life STEM roles to improve gardens in our school.

• The long term goal is to build a garden moisture sensor with computer software.

• This signature program will focus on visual arts

• In visual arts, students will create a mixed media artwork using texture and ink.

• Opportunity for students to further their skills in, and knowledge about all aspects of Touch Football including warm up routines, defensive techniques, attacking sequences, game awareness and refereeing practise.

• Students will participate in an intra-school competition during the program.
