GUIDELINES FOR DRAFTING ASSIGNMENT 1. Each question is a drafting assignment. You are expected to determine the most appropriate petition/application/s in response to the remedy sought in the query and prepare it for filing as per the code and Delhi High Court Rules. 2. All petitions/applications/plaints/WS etc. must conform to the requirements of CPC/HC Rules in respect of verification, affidavit, list of documents etc. and other mandatory annexures. 3. It may be necessary to draft prepare more than one petition/application in response to the facts and circumstances in the question. 4. Identify the court of appropriate jurisdiction, as per the territorial divisions and hierarchy of courts, where the suit/petition/WS/ application etc. will be filed. 5. Calculate the applicable court fees (fixed and ad valorem) in the jurisdiction and indicate the same where ever necessary. 6. Keep in mind the statute of limitation for the particular proceeding. 7. The pleading/petition/application itself must be brief and concise, not running into more than 2-3 typewritten A-4 size sheets. Use Arial 12 font with 1.5” line spacing with normal margins. Assume the necessary details with respect to names, dates, addresses where ever relevant and if not already provided. 8. Viva will comprise of questions regarding the draft with respect to procedure (including filing) as well as substantive law on the subject. Be prepared with relevant case law in support of your drafting. 9. The assignment should be submitted with a cover sheet having your name, division and roll no. and the drafting question reproduced. 10. Please ensure the sheets are securely tagged, however, any form of binding etc is unnecessary. Please avoid bulky file covers with embellishments. TO BE SUBMITTED TO MR. BRIJ MOHAN IN EXAMINATION ON 27 TH MARCH BEFORE 12 NOON
